Training Manager/Coach

Position Description

The duties of the sales trainer are to coordinate, conduct, and implement a comprehensive training program for the sales staff. The training components will be geared toward new hires and existing sales staff in order to improve our sales conversion rate.

The sales trainer's job is to ensure that all sales professionals can effectively overcome objections, use consultative selling techniques and closing skills. The trainer would be considered a resource for the entire sales staff, as well as the sales manager and supervisors. Conducting ongoing training and coaching for all skill levels, including basic sales skills, as well as advanced sales techniques would be a primary function of the position.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 3+ years of previous sales training experience preferred
  • Proven track record of increased sales through training and coaching
  • Prior coaching experience and the ability to develop individual coaching plans based on the needs of each salesperson
  • Ability to determine ongoing training needs by listening to calls, studying sales reports and conferring with the salespeople, supervisors and manager
  • Excellent presentation skills, as well as the ability to motivate, teach and inspire the sales staff
  • Provide new approaches and techniques to meet changing needs and trends
  • Must possess excellent judgment and decision making skills and demonstrate advanced interpersonal skills to work with individuals and management to provide coaching and performance feedback
  • Teamwork, enthusiasm and a positive attitude are all essential
  • Must have exceptional communication and computer abilities to create training materials and presentations that are well organized and professional
  • Computer skills required: Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook and the ability to quickly learn new computer systems and programs

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Help increase sales through training and coaching sales staff
  • Maintain and implement training curriculum according to the sales philosophy of the company for all New Hires and existing salespeople
  • Improve upon existing training program by continually monitoring for effectiveness and suitability to the sales team, the economy, and the competition
  • Facilitate role playing, as well as other types of discussion and participatory activities
  • Coach and mentor salespeople individually
  • Hold on-going training meetings for individuals and entire sales team
  • Understand the principals of coaching including ways to diagnose, provide feedback and develop action-oriented plans for continued growth
