AFYA, Inc., a professional and technical services firm in Laurel, MD, is seeking a Grants Coordinator with expertise in logistical support and experience in coordinating the grant application process. This position is for future work with the Department of Education and the successful candidate must be knowledgeable on the use of the Department of Educations’ G5 System and/or grants management process. The Grants Coordinator also will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day coordination of project activities.

Major Functions:

1. Responsible for supporting the peer-review and grant application process activities
2. Identifies, investigates, and analyzes problems; then recommends strategies to project management and implements approved solutions
3. Plans meetings, conferences, and webinars in support of the grants management process
4. Supports the Senior Grants Coordinator in tracking budget expenditures and progress of work assignments
5. Interfaces with program staff from the client agency
6. Provides support for special projects requested through the Grants Project Manager or Senior Grants Coordinator
7. Coordinates multiple projects simultaneously
8. Responsible for executing work assignments based on work plans and contract deliverable lists
9. Responsible for supporting the development of quality and timely reports


1. College degree required
2. CGMP required and CMP preferred
3. Prior employment with a Federal contractor, especially in the area of conference/meeting planning, peer reviews, and grants management
4. Experience with the Department of Education G5 System and/or grants management process preferred
5. Prior work experience with the Department of Education desirable
6. A minimum of 2 years experience working with Federal Travel Regulations
7. Strong writing and oral communication skills
8. A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in the conference and meeting planning/ and the grants managment field
9. Stong interpersonal skills
10. Strong organizational skills
11. Ability to manage cost tracking for project activities
12. Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and the ability to multitask
13. Excellent problem solving strategies
14. Effective communications skills
15. Experience in coordinating large and small meetings, conferences, and webinars
16. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
17. Ability to travel
