AFYA, Inc., a professional and technical services firm in Laurel, MD, is seeking a Grants Project Manager with expertise in logistical support and experience in managing the grant application process. This position is for future work with the Department of Education and the successful candidate must be knowledgeable on the use of the Department of Educations’ G5 System and/or grants management process. The Grants Project Manager also will be responsible for the day-to-day management of project activities. The ideal candidate will be able to apply the latest technology ideas in conferences, meetings, and webinars to project work.

Major Functions:

1. Responsible for managing the peer-review and grant application process activities
2. Identifies, investigates, and analyzes problems; then recommends strategies to project management and implements approved solutions
3. Oversees meetings, conferences, and webinars in support of the grants management process
4. Develops, tracks, and monitors budget expenditures and progress of work assignments
5. Ensures the timely implementation and delivery of contract products as prescribed in the scope of work
6. Interfaces with program and contract officials or other contract organizations
7. Assumes the lead for special and complex projects requested through the contract
8. Manages all aspects of multiple projects from start-up to close-out
9. Responsible for monitoring all work assignments, and developing work plans and contract deliverable lists for appropriate work assignments
10. Responsible for developing quality and timely reports
11. Supervises staff who oversee the the peer-review/grant application process
12. Ensures compliance with contract specifications

Qualifications:

1. College degree required
2. CMP required
3. Prior employment with a Federal contractor, especially in the areas of conference/meeting planning, peer reviews, and grants management
4. Experience with the Department of Education G5 System and grants management process preferred
5. Prior work experience with the Department of Education desirable
6. A minimum of 10 years experience working in the conference management/meeting planning and grants management field; and a minimum of 8 years experience with the Federal Acquisition Regulations and the Federal Travel Regulations
7. Excellent writing and oral communication skills
8. Strong interpersonal skills
9. High degree of responsibility, initaitive, and professionalism
10. Ability to organize, handle complex matters, budgetary issues, and cost tracking
11. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
12. Excellent problem solving strategies
13. Effective communications skills
14. Proficient in the use of software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
15. Ability to travel
