AFYA, Inc., a professional and technical services firm in Laurel, MD, is seeking a Senior Grants Coordinator with expertise in logistical support and experience in coordinating the grant application process. This position is for future work with the Department of Education and the successful candidate must be knowledgeable on the use of the Department of Educations’ G5 System and/or grants management process. The Senior Grants Coordinator also will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of project activities. The ideal candidate will be able to apply the latest technology ideas in conferences, meetings, and webinars to the project work.

Major Functions:

1. Responsible for coordinating and managing the peer-review and grant application process activities
2. Identifies, investigates, and analyzes problems; then recommends strategies to project management and implements approved solutions
3. Plans meetings, conferences, and webinars in support of the grants management process
4. Supports the Grants Project Manager in tracking budget expenditures and progress of work assignments
5. Interfaces with program staff from the client agency
6. Assumes the lead for special projects requested through the Grants Project Manager
7. Coordinates multiple projects as assigned by the Grants Project Manager
8. Responsible for supporting the Grants Project Manager with monitoring work assignments, and developing work plans and contract deliverable lists for appropriate work assignments
9. Responsible for developing quality deliverables and timely post-meeting reports
10. Supervises staff who support the grants management process
11. Conducts site visits, develops site selection reports, and negotiates hotel contracts
12. Ensures prompt payment of honoraria for reviewers

Qualifications:

1. College degree required
2. CMP required
3. Prior employment with a Federal contractor especially in the area of conference/meeting planning, peer reviews, and grants management
4. Must have experience with the Department of Education G5 System and/ grants management process
5. Prior work experience with the Department of Education desirable
6. A minimum of 6 years experience in the conference and meeting planning field; and a minimum of 5 years experience working with Federal Acquisition Regulations and Federal Travel Regulations
7. Excellent writing and oral communication skills
8. Strong interpersonal skills
9. Ability to organize, handle complex matters, budgetary issues, and cost tracking
10. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
11. Excellent problem solving strategies
12. Effective communications skills
13. Ability to coordinate large and small meetings, conferences, and webinars
14. Proficient in the use of software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
15. Ability to travel
