The ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI), a non profit organization developing therapeutics for the treatment of ALS, seeks a Finance Associate to support the finance and operational activities of the Institute.

Responsibilities:

  • Process all donations (Check/Cash/EFT/Wire Transfers/Stock, etc) according to ALS TDI’s guidelines in an accurate and service oriented manner
  • Support the efforts of the Finance and Development departments by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the donor database
  • Provide support to donors and ensure that all donor inquiries are answered and responded to within an appropriate period of time
  • Receive/sort daily mail, open/prepare/batch documents for bank deposit and data entry. Stamp/open all invoices for Operations Manager’s review
  • Enter batched donations into database system, create/review reports and reconcile to deposit receipts. Coordinate with bookkeeper for entry and coding revisions
  • Generate tax receipts and donor correspondences, update database with address revisions from returned mail
  • Receive/process chargebacks and returned checks; connect with donors and event coordinators on all flagged items
  • Receive/research/approve matching gift inquires, follow up with companies as needed for further donor info
  • Create daily donation email and respond to internal follow ups/inquiries, forward relevant backup to appropriate parties
  • Work with the Development staff on donation related items, such as coding, backup requests, and donor information
  • Report directly to Operations Manager. Complete special projects and other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to learn complex data entry codes and procedures quickly
  • Proficiency with MS excel and word, minimum typing speed of 50 wpm with 95% accuracy
  • Previous experience working with donor databases, Salesforce experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure in a high volume processing environment
  • Good analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Self-directed, takes initiative as well as a team player
