great place to work...with reservations
claims adjuster (Former Employee), OKC, OKJanuary 29, 2014
Pros: great work environment, great people
Cons: customer service business model is a cluster
I loved working at AAA. However, upper management was unfortunately out of touch with the rank and file and reaction to emergency situations, such as huge storms, was reactive rather than proactive. All that being said, I never worked with a more capable, dedicated group of middle management and employees. Shame that middle management was not empowered – more... to make on the fly decisions to be able to respond to the fluid nature of the claims business. Still love AAA though. A positive experience to have worked there. – less

Fun
Claims Representative (Former Employee), Colorado Springs, COApril 30, 2013
Pros: great pay, and relaxed atmosphere
Cons: management has some learning to do
AAA is a fun place to work at and they do pay good and treat you well. They do expect for advancement from everybody and not everyone is trained with what they need to handle their jobs. Overall a good place to work though.

DIRECT SALES AGENT (Former Employee), Oklahoma City, OKApril 24, 2013
Learned it is WHO you know and not what you know. The best part of the job were my co-workers who made things a little bit more bearable.

Good benefits, management entrenched in decades-old training models
Training / Development (Former Employee), Las Vegas, NVFebruary 15, 2013
Pros: good benefits
Cons: long hours
Typical day at work: Nose-to-the-grindstone curriculum development
What I learned: Some very useful applications. Also that in many businesses, innovation is frowned upon
Management: Not responsive or flexible to the new ideas and approaches to design and training that are constantly being brought to light in the field of training
Co-workers: Without – more... exception, excellent
Hardest part: Selling new approaches to training development & delivery to management
Most enjoyable: Trainees and facilitators approaching me so tell me how much they enjoyed sitting through/delivering training I which I had a role developing. – less

Redefining corporate culture at AAA
EA to SVP Enterprise Strategy & Team (Former Employee), Walnut Creek, CAFebruary 7, 2013
Pros: wide scope of vision. exciting projects.
Cons: little time to work between meetings.
I assumed the role of a temporary contractor in helping establish a new executive office with AAA,

The executive was entering an entirely new position within a new company. I had to assist in establish administrative procedures for the new office.

The company was in a time of change at that time, positive, but highly-confidential change. I had to – more... assist and support a team of 5 executives on largely highly-confidential information.

The new executive office had to hire new staff members, charging me with the responsibility to coordinate with Talent Acquisition for the interview, hiring, and firing processes.

It was a great experience, with good insight on how various corporations work within. – less

AAA is a Good company!
Supv II Business Systems Analyst (Current Employee), Emeryville, CAJanuary 25, 2013
Pros: lots of great people!
Cons: advancement is hard in my position.
There are a lot of wonderful people to work with at AAA.

For my position the advancement is limited and therefore am looking to move back to the information systems department at another company.

AAA has great benefits, good people!

Not up to par
Homeowner Claims Specialist (Current Employee), Colorado Springs, COJanuary 19, 2013
Pros: my coworkers are wonderful people
Cons: everything else
AAA has a terrible benefit package- From my understanding, one of the worst in the industry. They seem to enjoy pushing away their employees regardless of tenure, hard work and loyalty. I have tried to stay positive with this company but has continued to go down hill. I very much used to love my job and the company with the exception of benefits and – more... now I feel I need to move on as the love and dedication of my job has slowly drifted as they have continued to take complete advantage of their employees. One by one I have watched my coworkers move on to better opportunities with companies who they are proud to work for. Management has become so micromanaged and controlling it feels as though a child would have more freedom then I do. There is also a highschool mentality popularity contest between the supervisors and managers that makes it impossible to have respect for your management. – less

Endless reorgs result in little if any consistency and a culture of instability
Sr Compensation Analyst (Former Employee), Walnut CreekFebruary 4, 2012
Pros: great work-life balance
Cons: unstable, little innovation and questionable leadership
My experience at AAA was relatively good. I worked with a great team. However, I witnessed negative experiences of everyone around me. Constant reorgs were a reflection of poor management and lack of focus. Insurance companies in general are not innovative and work can become monotonous. They have a beautiful building with healthy benefits. Compensation – more... is average. – less
