About ABILENE STATE SCHOOL

In Texas, the Governor is the state's chief executive and is elected every four years. The Governor makes policy recommendations to both the Texas Senate and House of Representatives. In addition to signing or vetoing bills, the Governor is also the chief budget officer, commander-in-chief of the state's military forces, and convenes special sessions – more... of the Legislature. The governor also appoints a Secretary of State and members of the state's boards and commissions, though only the Legislature can remove them. The Texas Governor has fewer powers than many other state executives due to the state's post-reconstruction constitution, written in 1896 and still in effect. The office has a budget of $24 million. – less
