Youth specialist technician (Former Employee), 620 E Afton Oaks Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78232February 19, 2014
Pros: great benefits with minimum pay
Cons: you can get stabed, hit, spit by resident, team members are not verry helpul and its extremely stressful.
My typical day at work is extremely stress full but I managed to learn various skills and im well rounded in all areas, the management is extremely vigilant of employees and residents but are more concerned over the residents. My coworkers are somewhat helpful but are not dependable, the hardest part of the job is to make it through the day and surviving – more... all the fatal possibilities. The job is not enjoyable what so ever. – less

cook (Former Employee), Erie, PASeptember 6, 2013
start work at 5:45am. love going in early. and leaving at 2:00. you learn to take the good and bad about what people say about the food. some people dont like, what other people do.
never had a problem with management.
if my co-workers do there work, i dont have a problem. I do not like them standing there doing nothing, expecting me to do it for them.
the – more... hardest part of a job is lifting heavy things.
trying to make the food look great, and taste good. hearing the kids say they like it. – less

Life Skills worker/ over nights - Full time (Former Employee), South Mountain, PAAugust 14, 2013
Enjoyed working there. When staff have problems supervisors are easy to talk to and will help fix things. Always telling staff members what they are doing right and praises them for it.

Life Skill Worker ll (Former Employee), Marienville, PAJuly 18, 2013
I had to do groups and walk the halls I did take about 5 or 6 off grounds to NA meetings then to eat. I all so took them roller skating once a week and we would have fun. Co workers they where not the best to work with did not follow the rules and played around too much. I would have to say the enjoyable part of the job was the clients

Good workplace
Youth Lifeskills Worker (Former Employee), Morgantown, PAJune 24, 2013
Pros: lots of overtime, benefits, good starting pay
Cons: physically getting hurt
I worked third so it was a ten hour shift 4 nights out of the week. Easy job and I was always able to pick up overtime, It was a little difficult at times because as a female you have to be careful when working with juveniles that are sex offenders. My co-workers for the most part were nice people. every so often you would get a few that would look – more... down on you because you werent as experienced as them or had the degrees that they did. The hardest part was that sometimes the kids could be a little difficult as far as listening and following rules and the restraints. The best part was when the kids would leave and you would hear their success stories because most grew up in horrible conditions. – less

Office work in a warehouse environment
Data Management/Data Entry (Former Employee), Portage, MIMay 6, 2013
Pros: decent hours, weekends and holidays off and good pay rate
Cons: no job security, poor management of employees and poor communication
Majority of the job entailed confidentiality, computer and reading skills. I learned how to use various computer programs. I personally feel that the management is in need of improvement due to lack of communication and poor management toward the employees. Majority of my co-workers were pleasant and friendly people to work with, but there were a few – more... that I felt should not have been employed due to their poor attitude towards others. The hardest part of the job was having to sit in front of a computer screen for 8 hours a day. I enjoyed the job itself. – less
