Great for that college student looking to work while going to school
Operations Senior Team Lead (Former Employee) – Port Arthur, TX – June 20, 2017
Academy is actually a good place to work. The hours run little late into the night but if you are a college student looking to work while getting a degree I would recommend working here. Managing is either top notch or bottom of the barrel. Store Manager does play favorites but take it from me if you work hard and do things the right way she will recognize it and reluctantly promote you. Discounts are good and benefits are very good.
Team Sports Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Cedar Park, TX – June 20, 2017
This place has truly been one of my favorite places to work. I loved working here because of the friendly staff that remind me of a big family. There can, however, be a bit of drama circulating throughout the store from time to time.
On a normal day, we are responsible for assisting anybody that in unsure about where to find a certain product, or choosing one style product over the other. Closing requires all employees to "sweep" their departments, which means to organize and reorganize all products for a "ready for tomorrow" look.
I learned/developed: Organization, tidiness, integrity through customer service, social skills.
Can be stressful/boring at times, very emotionally straining if you let it
Wonderful environment, friendly management and co workers.
TEAM Sports Associate (Former Employee) – Tulsa, OK – June 20, 2017
During my employment at Academy I can honestly say they are a great company to work for in school as management provides great help in assisting you as well as others. The customers always show patience, kindness, as well as positive attitudes.
Lots of changes taking place in this company, so a little unstable at this time. Culture and experiences are different within the various departments. Work experience depends on what department you work in.
Location if you live out west, full service gym and two cafeterias, the new building is beautiful.
My goal was to always keep customers satisfied and have a productive day. All my co workers were very nice. Management are very professional. The most enjoyable part of my job was to see customers happy.
A very good company to work for. Great life balance, job culture, and benefits! Policies and procedures were well organized and reasonable. communications between management and human resources could improve.

Cashier (Former Employee) – Amarillo, TX – June 17, 2017
Management and team leads make up rules and policies as they come up. They constantly contradict themselves, then laugh at you in front of customers if you are confused. I've really never seen anything like it.
Customer Service Associate (Former Employee) – Frisco, TX – June 16, 2017

Don't really under stand that last but that's there policy.
