What is a Community Health Center?
Community health centers are local providers that make health care accessible and address the needs of those in low-income and medically underserved communities. Access is the only Federally-qualified health center in this region. Access makes care affordable through a sliding scale discount for those without insurance, and by accepting Medicaid (BadgerCare) and Medicare. Access clinics also accept many private insurance plans.
Many of our patients are at increased risk for chronic diseases like diabetes, asthma and depression. Our programs and services focus on achieving better health outcomes through both treatment and prevention. By establishing a health care home, we help patients and their families stay healthy.
