My typical day was to provide customer service and up selling of products and services.
I learned many things in this job due to the varied departments; lawn and garden, paint, home repair.
The management was very helpful and also supportive of their staff

Owners have no idea how to manage people or time. The owner is prone to having anger management issues. Has called his staff and employees 'incompetent'.

A great place to work. Management actually cares about the employees. Co-workers were great to work with. There wasn't really a hard part of the job but only that some of the customers were hard to deal with at times but that's expected in any job that deals with the public. As with any job experience, I learned something new every day.

Went out of business, but was a fun and good place to work at. It was a fair place with very nice owners.

Great to work for in regards to customer service, yet when pushed to the limit just for the fact that i was a woman and the knowlege i had in plumbing didnt go well with my male coworkers

Employee's worked to achive high customer satisfaction. Company was directed towards improving the customers shopping and purchasing experience.

Overall the company is a good one to work for, however, there are more issues within the system and operations that make the job stressfull and un-enjoyable. Lack of communication between management and hourly employee's, and between co-workers.

Hard working and fast-paced. I learned strategies to make the money I want for the week. Management is all for themselves and unfair. Coworkers seem to be all in competition. The hardest part of the job was trying not to get any errors. The most enjoyable part was the incentive checks.

Fun job, good people. Management was always there to listen and help.

I manage the hardware dept(nut/bolts/service areas)key cutting,mower and chain saw blade sharpening,repairing window/door screens,order processing,stocking.

I enjoy working here, Just looking for something more long term.

Working here has been alot of fun. They give you alot of leaway to branch off and improve yourself as a people person and an employee

A typical day at work consisted of greeting customers as they walked in, cleaning the front of the store and making sure everything was stocked, and in my spare time helping other employees stock the rest of the store.

Scheduling is posted 2 weeks in advance and instructions are given upon arrival for the tasks to be accomplished that day. Personalized customer service is highly encouraged, and often both customer and employee gain new knowledge in the exchanges over household project requirements and execution. I learned a great deal about the functions of specialized – more...  tools, do-it-yourself plumbing and electrical projects from both co workers and more experienced customers. Co-workers ranged from highly eccentric and short-lived to stolid, long-term older and more experienced employees. Many college-aged full- and part-time workers passed through during my time of employment, and for many of these, this job was of peripheral importance. These required the greatest patience and supervision, and I was often needed in at least two places (preparing orders and completing urgent office projects and monitoring floor activity) at once. My job as Inventory control manager was an amalgamation of three previous positions (as a cost-cutting measure), and balancing duties was, at times, problematic. Upper management was somewhat erratic at times and tended to throw ideas and tasks forth at random and without prioritization or clearly expressed expectations. On the whole, however, I enjoyed interacting with the public, forming friendships, and I kept an open door to my office, which provided useful input from staff on their needs, conflicts, and successes. – less

Excellent company I am looking forward to moving up in the ranks by going to school and become a warehouse manager.

I like what I do but am underpaid for doing the work of managers. Upper management like to micro manage. Most co-workers work hard but there are some that is dragging the rest of the team down. There is nothing in this job that is hard. I love helping the customers with house hold repairs.

I enjoyed working at Ace and for ace hardware... the work requires you to be very fast paced and at same time be efficiant in what you are doing. the pay was great but often times went down more than they went up.. its a warehouse so when its hot its hot and when its cold its cold but ace and managment does a great job making sure we are hydrated and – more...  break and lunch room is opposite temp of what we are working in. – less
