Rotational Sales Management Development Program (Current Employee), Milwaukee, WI – March 19, 2013
Pros: training, resources, accessibility to upper management
Cons: travel, disconnected from coorporate when remote
Actuant provides lots of invaluable training to ensure their employees are equipped with the tools they need to succeed in their respective fields. It's a great place to work. However, the demanding travel can take a toll.
High turnover. Actuant does not promote from within the company.
Manager (Former Employee), Menomonee Falls, WI – March 8, 2013
Pros: you can gain experience at actuant and move on.
Cons: company does not care about employees work/life balance. they expect and reward "face time."
Actuant relies on hiring recent college graduates and constant turnover of mid level managers to keep salaries far below market rates. Actuant does not promote from within for senior positions. Instead they hire executives from major brands who are at the end of their careers and ready to coast for a few more years.
As a $1.6 B Global Corporation, Actuant is a very good corporation to work for and is well managed by the 4 Segment and Business Unit Leaders.
Quality Engineer (Former Employee), Menomonee Falls, WI – December 31, 2012
Pros: self managed travel. with priorities required.
Cons: lack of sales initiatives in prior years at gits mfg resulted in a decline of sales, projected for fy 2013 which drove budget cuts resulting in permanent lay-offs
Worked off-site in home office in Michigan for last 5 years for Power Packer Europe Business Unit (Netherlands) supporting Supplier Control for US suppliers and also Business Unit support for Maxima (Power Packer Juarez) for US suppliers and US Customers. Transferred to Gits MFG. under Power Packer North American Business Unit for Supplier Quality Engineering – more... position. With over 50% travel it was cost feasable to work from home office. Power Packer Europe business unit colleagues and management was very supportive and a pleasure to be associated with during my term assignments. – less

Documentation Professional (Former Employee), Menomonee Falls, WI – April 25, 2012
Pros: comfortable work surroundings.
Cons: poor insurance coverage, long hours, evolved into rigid work place
Rigid Culture. Managers have little compassion for employees. Office politics and departmental drama runs rampant.
