HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING THE PAST AND PAID FOR IT NOW??? WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT IS SOME PEOPLE HAVE COMMITED SOME KIND OF FELONY OR MISTOMEANOR AND NO ONE IS WILLING TO GIVE US A CHANCE THEN SOCIETY WONDERS WHY THERE IS SO MANY PEOPLE COMMITING CRIMES OUT THERE..HELLO IF SOCIETY DOESN'T GIVE YOU A SECOND CHANCE HOW IS IT THAT WE ARE GOING TO PROVE OURSELVES THAT WE WANT TO TURN OVER A NEW LEAF IT'S LIKE "YOU HAVE A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND SO THERE FOR NOT INTIALED TO HAVE A JOB"? I MEAN COME ON THAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL.. GRANT IT THEY SHOULD SE WHAT KIND OF OFFENSE YOU HAVE COMMITTED AND THE JOB YOU ARE APPLYING FOR... IF ANY ONE OUT THERE IS GOING THROUGH THIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW I'M PLANNING TO START A PETITION TO CONGRESS TO GET SOME KIND OF HELP FROM THE STATE TO PROTECT AGAINST THIS KIND OF DISCRIMINATION .............

You will be treated brutally as a commodity, since that is what you are to them. They work for their clients -- not you -- you need to understand that if you are going to work "temp." They have no loyalty to you and most could care less about where they place you, as long as their client is getting what they need. My suggestion is to APPLY DIRECTLY WITH COMPANIES YOU ARE INTERESTED IN! :) If you MUST use an agency, use the smaller local ones. They're more humane!

Got a call from Adecco regarding a job I had applied to. Great! I missed the agent's name. She wanted me to make some adjustments to my resume and wanted to send it to client ASAP, like right now, today. Ok I said I can have it within the hour. She said she'd send me an email and I could send it to her. OK! Yey I thought. I actually really wanted this job.
I never got an email. I called them. They said they would look into who called me and get back to me. Never did, so I called back, this was already more than 2 hours since the convo. They gave me another agent who said to email the resume to him. OK, at least something I thought. I send him the email and he send this generic reply "thanks for applying to the job we'll let you know in 7 days if you're a good fit"
WTH? I already applied for the job and they already thought I was a good fit. Anyone with temp bg what's going on? All I can think of is that I was a backup to someone else.

I WORKED FOR ADECCO IN THE GAFFNEY SOUTH CAROLINA AREA AND LET ME TELL YOU THAT THEY ARE FULL OF SHxx! I WAS WORKING FOR THEM FOR 6 MONTHS THEN THEY CALLS TO END MY ASSISGNMENT. NOW I AM UNABLE TO GET ANOTHER JOB WITH THEM. EVERY DAY I READ IN THE GAFFNEY LEDGER THAT THEY NEED 30 PEOPLE TO WORK AT THE TIMKEN COMPANY HERE IN GAFFNEY BUT WHEN I CALL AND ASK ABOUT THIS JOB THEY TELL ME THAT THEY CAN'T PLACE ME THERE CAUSE OF THE LAST JOB I HAD WITH THEM. I HAD TO TAKE OFF TO GO TO A FAMILY REUNION IN ATLANTA, SO I ASK ME BOSS MAN AT THE COMPANY THAT I WAS WORKING FOR THROUGH ADECCO COULD I TAKE OFF HE TOLD ME "YES, GO AHEAD I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS INDEPENDENCE DAY AND EVERYONE MAKE PLANS. AND THEN HE ASKED ME "HAVE YOU ALREADY PURCHASED THE TICKET TO GO" , I TOLD HIM YES HE SAID "GO AHEAD AND GO IF I WAS YOU I WOULD GO SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED A TICKET GO AHEAD AND ENJOY YOURSELF. I GET READY TO COME BACK TO WORK MONDAY MY ASSIGNMENT HAS BEEN ENDED BY ADECCO. SO I TELL THEM THAT MY BOSS MAN SAID YES I CAN TAKE OFF SO THE GUY AT ADECCO SAID OKAY LET ME CALL AND VERIFY THAT AND I TOLD HIM YES PLEASE DO. SO HE DID AND CALL ME BACK AND SAID "THEY WANT TO END YOUR ASSIGNMENT JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO. I ASKED WHAT DID O DO WRONG NO ONE COULD TELL ME. SO WHAT EVERY YOU DO DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH ADECCO PLEASE. ESPECIALLY THAT MRS. PATTIE THAT WORKS AT THE ADECCO IN GAFFNEY SHE AIN'T SHIT AND DAVID AIN'T EITHER ALL OF THEM TELL DAMN LIES.

I spent over 3 hours testing with Adecco over 2 months ago and received one phone call for a "next day, one day" assignment and nothing since then. They are always advertising but I don't truly believe they have much, if anything.
Unfortunately, I am starting to believe all temp agencies are similar.

I made an account on their site and someone called and told me to take a test on their site. I did then called them to make an appointment to come in. After I made it the last asked for my social and I was not thinking and gave it. This wouldn't be used for fraud would it?

I started this forum to discuss the current increasing trend in the United States for employers to hire temporary employees through temporary employment agencies and to discuss current news about this issue.
My personal experience has found that:
* temp agencies are short-term solutions to obtain temporary employment
* if you apply for temp-to-hire positions sometimes it works out and you become a permanent employee of the employer
* Medical insurance and other benefits provided by temp agencies are a short-term solution to obtaining coverage between jobs
I worked for Addecco for a year with just one corporate employer. Addecco invested a lot of training for employees and the training was valuable. However, after a year, Addeco began laying off many workers from that employer and about 30 people were laid off. Only one worker was hired by the employer as a permanent employee. When I went to the State Employment Office, experienced job counselors there told me two (2) things:
1) More and more employers are hiring temp workers instead of permanent, full-time employees so they don't have to pay for insurances and other benefits.
2) Move away. YES - they told me to MOVE out of the STATE!!

The Huffington Post has had many interesting articles lately about temp agencies. One very alarming piece of information I gleaned from their articles is this:
"More recently, temp firms have successfully lobbied to change laws or regulatory interpretations in 31 states, so that workers who lose their assignments and are out of work cannot get unemployment benefits unless they check back in with the temp firm for another assignment."
Is this not horrifying?

Stay FAR FAR FAR FAR did I mention FAR away from Adecco!
If you are new to consulting, temping or a seasoned pro you must know by now that recruiters, head hunters, placement agencies, outsourcing firms are blood sucking pigs & Adecco is at the top of this list.
These companies dont give a spit about you, your abilities or your desired hrly wage, they only care about placing a warm body in a cold cubicle & billing out as much as they can suck from the client all the while paying you next to nothing.
The MORONS working these 21st century sweat shops know nothing of the industries for which they recruit & the VAST majority of them have ZERO people skills, education, mgmt skills, english skills or any skills for that matter. In fact a growing number of the companies now are run by Indians (Dots not Feathers) who have NO, NONE, NADA, respect for American workers.
If you want to survive in this business, get around the gatekeepers, get in front of the hiring managers & HR departments you need to follow these steps:
1. Develop an email list of hiring managers & HR personnel
2. Use your email list on a very regular basis
3. Develop a fax list of companies you would like to work for, be sure the fax number is to HR or department managers
4. Use your fax list on a very regular basis
5. Develop several unique & compelling versions of your message to use in your email & fax distributions. Make them strong, well worded, gramatically correct & most of all short & to the point
6. Build a snail mail list, bombard your targets with varous flavors of your resume & cvr ltrs on a monthly basis. Focus on your msg & not the paper color or font type, keep them basic
Most important & difficult of them all, REFUSE to work for any staffing firm that does not respect you & your abilities & who is unwilling to pay you what you feel you are worth.
Remember, without us they would have no business at all!

Just got jerked around. Spent 2 hours testing online, was called and told I did well, "come in and fill out some paperwork and bring ID and we will send you there next week!" then one hour before my appointment to go in, they called and cancelled saying the job had been filled. A few months later, I got another call. Again, "We will get you right in" This time I drove to their office, about 15 miles each way. I interviewed, they promised to get back to me, heard nothing. I emailed the person I interviewed with and about the job I came in and interviewed for and she had no idea what I was talking about.I described the job and she insisted there never was any such job. I found the ad for that job on their website. So, they are either very very disorganized, or they post fake jobs.Not sure which, and don't really care. Also, they interview you right out in the open, discussing pay, etc in front of other candidates. Aren't job interviews supposed to be private? Nothing but a waste of time and gas.
