You will be treated brutally as a commodity, since that is what you are to them. They work for their clients -- not you -- you need to understand that if you are going to work "temp." They have no loyalty to you and most could care less about where they place you, as long as their client is getting what they need. My suggestion is to APPLY DIRECTLY WITH COMPANIES YOU ARE INTERESTED IN! :) If you MUST use an agency, use the smaller local ones. They're more humane!

It seems like all Adecco ( in Tampa ) has had in the last few months is Data Entry work for New York Life. I'm a little burned on data entry for corporations after a stint as a temporary at Bank of America at the Savarese Circle location in Tampa. I was with a different service, but there were a couple of Adecco people in our group there. It was HORRIBLE. The B of A requirements for production and quality were unbelievable given the conflicting information bouncing around as to how to categorize the documents. The longtimers that we were directed to ask gave different answers than each other, and different than the Subject Matter Expert who also gave different answers than the Team Lead, and everyone in charge seemed to be confused as to why the Quality Assurance or Quality Checkers in Mumbai and other places in INDIA (yes, INDIA) were turning items back as wrong. No one really wanted to admit that the Mumbai quality people didn't seem to know what they were doing. There were other issues in addition to: native-born American English speakers being checked for documents written in English by people in India.
Anyway, I'm afraid that the temporary Data Entry Expert position at New York Life will be just as nightmare-ish.
Has anyone worked as one of these temporaries at New York Life at 5505 West Cypress in Tampa?

Anyone has any experiences with Adecco in Ottawa? I heard some bad things about Adecco and the vibe that Adecco gave me was bad. I would like to work with the Canadian government but I could probably find someone who's more interested in me. Any thoughts?

What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Adecco?
What do you like best about working at Adecco? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

I've never been this confused in my life. Couple weeks ago i applied online for a position as a retail sales rep. I immediately get a phone call from a recruiter about my application who informs me that i do not qualify for that position, but I do qualify for customer support rep. So i say, ok i'll take that. and she proceeds to asks me questions over the phone. I pass that, is informed that there will be a second phone interview by HR. I get the call but then HR tells me that I already had my interview and I pass. Well thats swell. So i am scheduled for a face to face interview with 2 store managers. I go to that and get interviewed by the store manager (the other manager was busy) and that's that. A week and a half later i get a phone call from a woman who says that i got a job at verizon wireless as a greeter at another store. I quickly accepted because any job is better than no job right? and she emails me an application. turns out its an application for the job thru adecco. so after some soul searching, i figure again any job at the moment is better than none at all. so i go with it, and go to the office in person to fill out the paperwork. I asked the rep if she had any more information specifically for this position. She starts me on the forms first and makes some calls to inquire about it. THEN she comes back and tells me to stop filling out the forms because the employer (verizon wireless) actually wants me as eventually as permanent hire. well thats good news i say. but she said that it meant that I would have to go thru another dept/company magic workforce. and to expect a call from them. alright that sounds ok. so i do get a call. and again i ask for more details about the position. it seems this rep knows even less than the one at adecco. the only thing she knows is the pay rate. both reps at magic workforce and adecco say that i should know the job details already from whoever i came in contact with at verizon. Well, considering i

Stay FAR FAR FAR FAR did I mention FAR away from Adecco!
If you are new to consulting, temping or a seasoned pro you must know by now that recruiters, head hunters, placement agencies, outsourcing firms are blood sucking pigs & Adecco is at the top of this list.
These companies dont give a spit about you, your abilities or your desired hrly wage, they only care about placing a warm body in a cold cubicle & billing out as much as they can suck from the client all the while paying you next to nothing.
The MORONS working these 21st century sweat shops know nothing of the industries for which they recruit & the VAST majority of them have ZERO people skills, education, mgmt skills, english skills or any skills for that matter. In fact a growing number of the companies now are run by Indians (Dots not Feathers) who have NO, NONE, NADA, respect for American workers.
If you want to survive in this business, get around the gatekeepers, get in front of the hiring managers & HR departments you need to follow these steps:
1. Develop an email list of hiring managers & HR personnel
2. Use your email list on a very regular basis
3. Develop a fax list of companies you would like to work for, be sure the fax number is to HR or department managers
4. Use your fax list on a very regular basis
5. Develop several unique & compelling versions of your message to use in your email & fax distributions. Make them strong, well worded, gramatically correct & most of all short & to the point
6. Build a snail mail list, bombard your targets with varous flavors of your resume & cvr ltrs on a monthly basis. Focus on your msg & not the paper color or font type, keep them basic
Most important & difficult of them all, REFUSE to work for any staffing firm that does not respect you & your abilities & who is unwilling to pay you what you feel you are worth.
Remember, without us they would have no business at all!

I was employed by them for a few months. That assignment ended, and I called in diligently for the next 8 weeks!! asking for work. Nothing, Nothing, Nothing...
Many months later, I filed an NJ unemployment claim. They claimed I quit. OK, I had a hearing, and I won. Just got a letter, now they are appealing.
OK, it is their right to appeal, but if I lose, I will have to personally repay the State of New Jersey thousands of dollars. If they lose, it is a few minor "experience" points on their record.
Be aware that this is how they treat former employees. Ones who were ready and willing to work. Ones that showed up every day and billed 40 hours per week.

The branch manager in New Bern used me to get my contacts in Kinston. She pretended to make me a job offer but she was asking about my clients. She is very cold, calculating and a liar. Beware!
