ADERANT can't keep track of your lawyer, but it can keep track of your legal bills. The company provides software and services for law and other professional services firms. Its flagship ADERANT Expert software suite includes applications for managing time and billing, financial management, practice management, and other front- and back-office functions. Other products manage staffing and project resources, documents, records, and e-mails. Clients have included Clifford Chance, Greenberg Traurig, Deloitte Consulting, and Mayer Brown. The company has offices in Australia, New Zealand, the US, and the UK. Founded in 1978, ADERANT (the name is a form of the verb "present" in Latin) is owned by Vista Equity Partners.
ADERANT is using acquisitions to build its customer base and expand its business into new segments of the legal industry. In 2012 it bought document imaging provider and former partner Applied Technology Group to flesh out its portfolio. In 2011 the company acquired Client Profiles and CompuLaw to increase its business in case management for small firms and legal calendaring. It also bought RainMaker Software that year to add more midsized and large customers for its financial and practice management software.
The company released a new enterprise content management product called ADERANT StarLaw in 2010 which was based on technology it acquired in the purchase of document and correspondence management software developer StarLaw the previous year. Another product released in 2010, ADERANT Practice Manager, is a hosted practice management suite targeting small and midsized law firms. The Web-based application integrates time and billing, calendaring, docketing, and financial management and reporting functions.
ADERANT does most of its business in the US, but the company does have international clients. During 2010 it expanded in the Asia Pacific region, in particular, where Australia and New Zealand are among its strongest areas for overseas sales. ADERANT also added key accounts in Singapore that year.
The company continued to build its business in the region in 2011, investing in more development, consulting, and technical support staff for its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland. ADERANT has another international office in London. – less
