Model: Get The Contract Signed, NOW!!!
Small Business Sales (Former Employee), Spokane, WA – May 9, 2013
Pros: good commission, benefits, 401k
Cons: customers come last! get the contract, sorry "agreement" signed now!
Typical Day: 8:00-10:00 Making pestering phone sales calls for two hours (highly ineffective in terms of garnering actual sales, it's more about free phone advertising for ADT than anything else).
10:00-5:00 Pounding the pavement, calling on businesses that have seen ADT reps before, multiple times. If you're smart you'd be ahead of their game and go – more... after new businesses of your local, public information new business listings. Also, occassionally, you may get a lead from corporate (someone calling in to get a rep to their home or business for a quote, most of the time). Problem is, you are NOT allowed to call or confirm the appointment, even if it's 200 miles away, you have to make the trip! Needless to say, you may get home at 10:00pm after driving 450 miles with no sale to show for it. 200 plus combined mile sales calls will happen about five days a month, about 25% of your time. (no reimbursement for gas). A hiring mill with tons and tons of turnover. – less

An okay job but not a career company to work for.
Customer Service Group/ Technical Support (Current Employee), Jacksonville, FL – May 5, 2013
Pros: you have job security
Cons: breaks, management, scheduling, treatment of customers
This company cares more about profit than anything else. I have worked for this company for 3 years in some areas I see improvement but in other more important areas its years of no change or progress. If you need a job that pays okay until you can do better this is the place.

Busy, Stable
Customer Service (Former Employee), Irving, TX – May 2, 2013
It is a good place to work, the only situation is having to wait on another team member if they are late, you have to stay until they cover your shift. As an Assistant Manager you are required to do all duties, but the Manager gets the larger bonus, but if the Manager has no employees they will have to work the whole store

Resolution Specialist (Current Employee), Jacksonville, FL – April 27, 2013
Pros: being able to help our customers and know they appreciate your efforts.
Cons: not having all the tools necessary or support necessary to to do your job with excellence.
My job is to help fix what is wrong and to ensure our customers are satisfied with the resolution of their problems. The job requires constant communication and cooperation from a variety of departments. My investigative skills and problem solving skills have definitely improved.

WOW!
Residential Resale Representative (Former Employee), Greenville, SC – April 26, 2013
Had a customer expose themselves to me when I was in their home and the company was more concerned about if the customer was going to get security then my well being. Enough said that sums up how you will be treated at ADT.

too stressful. no management support or appreciation
Residential Resource Specialist (Current Employee), West Henrietta, NY – April 24, 2013
Pros: nothing
Cons: too many to name
The job was extremely stressful. Not really any support from management who were themselves stressed over the stress of their employees.
No sense of appreciation or community. Not a team environment and very little opportunity for advancement unless you apply for a job that no one else is posting for. Very little professionalism and very political.

Do you like walking
Self Generated Sales Representative (Former Employee), Austin, TX – April 23, 2013
Pros: great incentives for sales
Cons: completely commision based salary
The people I meet here were great but having to walk all day was a different story . We worked the same areas over and over and worked until 9pm out door knocking in very dangerous areas. Due to health issues I could not keep up with being constantly on my feet and walking

ADT Security
Productivity Specialist (Former Employee), Knoxville, TN – April 22, 2013
Pros: cafe in building, decent pay, community events, treadmill in building
Cons: scheduling, management, co-workers
A typical Day at work at ADT - I would come in, log onto all of my systems and begin my phone calls to techinitans in LA to set their schedules and contact customers if a Technitian called out sick. Management was poor, the was a large turnover rate - Hardest Part of the Job was making sure I called every single customer before the end of their scheduled – more... window-frame to let them know if a tech was going to run late. I had over 60 technitians and each one had 7-10 appointments a day. Very Fast paced environment. The most enjoyable part of my job is the bond I made with my techntians and service team managers, even when they are across the country. We would all help each other out. – less

ADT really use to be a great place to work. We have been through a lot of management changes. Not much room for growth.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter here
Emergency dispatch operator (Current Employee), Irving, TX – April 13, 2013
Pros: coworkers, good cafeteria, benefits are okay
Cons: absolutely everything else
When I was looking for a job, a family member who had previously worked here told me it was a great place to work. I gave it a shot, got the position, and found out that they were absolutely right - it was great! I had an awesome manager, my coworkers were great, the pay was good, and the job was fulfilling. At this time, I was working for Brink's Home – more... Security, and I bled blue working hard for this company - I was happy and proud to work here. The company took care of ita customers, and it took great care of its employees as well. I felt like my employer cared about me as a person, because they did.

But then the company split off to become Broadview Security, in what would eventually be a very obvious move to sell the place to ADT, the big competitor, and everything went downhill.

During a merger, you expect there to be a bit of turnover. What you dont expect is about eight entire departments, plus almost all of HR, to ve laid off without any option to transfer to another department. You don't expect about 30 people within your own department to jump ship over the ourse of about a week (half the department!).

And then we were ADT.

Now, everyone is a number. The company doesn't care about their employees - they hire 25 or so people every threw or four weeks, so you can guess what the turnover rate is like. There are no longer any parking spaces in the lot, you get to come in and desperately search for a seat with little success. New hires are paid more starting than I am now after almost five years of service - and my annual raise is 0 this year! Management is godawful; the people who used to take care of you have been replaced by people who are so uncaring that it's clear they are only looking out for themselves. They also seem to be clueless as to how to manage people or run a department, and are also so incompetent that they do not know or understand their own policies and procedures, many of which are in place not to peotect the customer, but the interests of the business itself. They say that we have a "customer-obsessed culture", but in reality it is an obsession with screwing you over - customer and employee alike.

I have personally been screwed out of about five advancement opportunities by management not knowing up from down, and I've seen other stories like that here as well - including one person who used to be a supervisor but has since been "reassigned" about four different times, landing in a worse position each time. Policies are set that nobody can agree with or on: employees are penalized for not taking and returning from their breaks exactly on time - which is an issuw because sometimes you get a call that runs over into a break, and management refuses to adjust the break time accordingly; fights and other incidents have become frequent; even somethimg simple like a schedule change with another person is a nightmare.

It is, however, worth mentioning that some people DO advance or get promoted...unfortunately, they tend to be the people who really didnt have a clue about how to do their jobs to begin with. But that means they fit in just fine with management.

Service quality has dropped since training standards have become lax.

In short, this place is a soul-crushing place to work, with inconsistent policies and treatment of employees, little in the way of advancement prospects, and overall poor treatment of any employee who has lasted more than about a year.

Don't believe what they tell you - this place is horrible. Avoid at all costs! Don't think that it will improve if you just "stick it out" a little while - it doesn't get any better, only worse. Went from the best to the worst place I have ever worked. Only take a job with this conpany if you are desperate, and only until you find something else!

NOT A GOOD PLACE TO WORK – less
