This was an incredible start-up company with eight years of success when it was acquired by the DeVry Corporation.
Unfortunately, as with any transition such as this, employee morale was sagging under the new requirements which required teachers get certified in every state they serviced.
Until this time, Advanced Academics serviced only local Oklahoma students. The process of test-taking and paperwork for all these certifications was somewhat stressful.
However, the Advanced Academics curriculum was very well done. The technical systems were impressive and well managed by a large and very competent IT division.
The management staff was composed of mostly original employees who were exemplary! My teacher colleagues were of the highest quality and very helpful.
Teaching online reaches students who cannot get the higher level courses in their rural settings while also servicing students who have learning, health or emotional issues, as well.
This was very challenging and exciting. Resources for all these exceptions were readily available with a few clicks on the computer.
I enjoyed my year at this friendly company and only because of the death of my mother and my relocation with my father to FL resulted in my resignation.
I am sure that withing the year following my departure that the rough edges would be smoothed out.
