Job Summary

The ACF Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting the ACF Controller to ensure that daily operational functions within the Accounting Department are completed in a timely and accurate manner. The Accounting Manager will work collaboratively with the ACF Controller to prepare internal and external financial statements. This will include the preparation and review of account reconciliations, roll forward schedules, and various standard and non-recurring journal entries. The ACF Accounting Manager will also review Staff Accountant’s work and will participate in the annual financial audit. This individual will also assist the ACF Controller with the maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Perform month-end close duties, including the analysis of financial statement variances and the preparation of account reconciliations, elimination entries and standard and non-recurring journal entries
  • Assist with the preparation of cash flow statements and cash flow analysis; ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal control and accounting policies
  • Maintain, balance and reconcile the general ledger to subsidiary journals, including notes receivable, investments, prepaid assets, accrued liabilities, and members’ equity
  • Manage completion and review of quarterly financial data in support of quarterly and annual financial reporting to ensure accurate and timely submissions; ensure proper reflection of supplemental data in financial statements
  • Assist in preparation and review of financial materials to executive level committees
  • Act as a point of contact between Treasury, Finance and business units; coordinate transaction flows across groups to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness by streamlining, standardizing, and automating financial transaction processing and reporting
  • Maintain knowledge of industry accounting practices and regulatory requirements that pertain to the Company
  • Participate in corporate wide projects resulting from significant changes in GAAP and integrate changes into accounting policies and procedures
  • Assist with adherence to accounting policies and procedures; establish and monitor key internal controls over financial reporting to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and COSO standards
  • Play a contributor role in the financial audit process, including interaction with the independent auditors, coordination of audit requests and preparation of audit work papers
  • Develop processes and systems for inter-company transactions
  • Complete ad hoc reporting and analysis as assigned
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the company

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Education: BS/BA in Accounting or Finance. CPA required


  • Minimum 6 years of professional accounting experience, including experience with a public accounting firm, including 2+ years of management experience
  • Minimum 2 years of financial services industry or high volume transactional environment experience
  • Experience in successfully leading, supervising, training and developing staff
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Excel required, and Great Plains accounting system experience is preferred

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Solid technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge with respect to specialty finance and demonstrated experience with complex accounting processes
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, ability to work and make independent decisions and ability to work effectively on teams
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage workload and to instill a sense of urgency in others as necessary to meet deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of internal control principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever changing environment
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities to meet deadlines on short notice
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to draft reports, business correspondence, policies and proposals in a highly effective and efficient manner
  • Proven ability to read and effectively interpret complex documents, such as purchase and sale contracts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office skills, especially Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
