SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The Senior Project Accountant will be an integral member of the team by providing financial support, analysis and actionable consultative advice relative to Avure’s financial results, operations, and reporting.
The goal for the Senior Project Accountant will be to continuously improve the overall financial reporting and business processes as they relate to Avure’s operations.
Partner and support the Corporate Controller to build, develop & execute financial & accounting strategies / processes and systems, while suggesting value-added improvements that effectively meet and enhance Avure’s objectives.
Supervise the day-to-day transactional accounting as well as the monthly financial close process by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger and account structure
Perform monthly variance analysis of actuals to estimates and research inquiries
Manage the project warranty process, communicating with project management to determine needed reserves
Perform system functions to recognize revenue, update subledgers, set up and close projects and other related tasks
Prepare ad-hoc and routine weekly and monthly financial reports that are sent out to management
Assist in preparation of schedules, analyses, support, and financial statements for the year-end financial statement audit
Support the accounting and finance department by preparing and analyzing periodic financial and operational reports to ensure accurate financial reporting
Research technical accounting matters
Assist in the monthly, quarterly and annual budgeting and forecasting processes
Understand current processes and procedures and make suggestions on how to improve them based on research and past experience
Independently identify, research, and troubleshoot issues/problems
Handle special projects as needed
Undergraduate Degree in Accounting
Technical accounting research skills as well as strong knowledge of audit regulations, policies, and practices
Ability to recognize shortcomings in processes, develop an action plan, set goals, and work independently to achieve desired results and reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
High level of personal integrity, ethics, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, v-lookups, macros, etc.
Other computer skills to include: Microsoft Access, Word, and accounting information systems
Capacity to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels in the organization
Strong strategic, planning, and analytical ability with close attention to detail
Ability to present, consult, and advise operating and department leaders on a range of issues related to accounting financial analysis in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner
CPA certified or eligible preferred
Exposure to manufacturing environments from a financial perspective preferred
