Productive and fun work place safe for children
Care Teacher (Former Employee), Goose Creek, SCJuly 31, 2014
Pros: good pay
Cons: no benefits
I start off by giving my children snack and watching an educational tv show. Afterward, we start homework then go outside to play on the playground for thirty minutes. We continue to the computer lab for another thirty minutes then go to the cafeteria until all the children are picked up by their parents. I learned how to handle twenty eight children – more... at one time. The management was nice and fair. My co-workers were sometimes hard to deal with but, for the most part we all worked together as a team. The hardest part of the job was collecting payments because some parents didn't want to pay for the day care. The most enjoyable part of the job was spending time with the children. They taught me so much and brought joy into my day every time i was working. – less

Working with high schoolers
Tutor (Former Employee), Fresno, CAJuly 15, 2014
Pros: great people & experiences
I spend a couple hours helping students with homework and sometimes, I was just someone they could ask about college. I learned how to work with people on a more professional level. People I worked with were great and fun! The hardest part of my job, was being a leader without making my co-workers feel like I was above them. The most enjoyable part, – more... was seeing that I made a difference in some of the students education. – less

If you like working with children, you will love working for ASP. The schools they work with are great and the children are so much fun! This job would not be good for someone with little patience.

Working with children was very rewarding. I helped them with homework and other school activities. The hours were part-time which allowed family time home. I worked 3-4 hours before and 3-4 hours after school.

Counselor (Former Employee), Omaha, NEJanuary 16, 2014
Pros: experiencing something new every day either positive or negative issues and situations
Cons: dealing with diverse personalities of the staff and students
A typical day included deciding different crafts to instruct and demonstrate with the children and sometimes other staff members. i learned organizational skills and how to create an effective lesson plan. The most difficult part of my job would have been figuring out how to relate to each student on a personal level and gaining there trust. The most – more... enjoyable part of my job was the building of relationships with my students and other staff. – less

Program Coordinator (Current Employee), Little Rock, ARNovember 17, 2013
Pros: flexible schedule
Cons: late pay, health care
A typical day consisted of myself working with about 30 students I recieve after school that participate in activities of my choice.
I learned how how to use case management, develop behavior plans, construct my own lesson plans, and cope with teenagers. The toughest part of this job is the pay, it's based on reimbursements and there isn't a definite – more... day for your pay, we sometimes go a month in a half until we're paid. The most enjoyable part is working and helping the kids. – less

Pros: student work study job worked around my college classes
Cons: no health benefits or raises
My day start by helping middle school students accomplish their goals by making myself avaiable dunring their student time after school. I learned to appreciate the study skills that I have learned while at the university. The management team was great they also assisted in help students that was have a difficult time with home work. The hardest part – more... of my job is leaving them at the end of my day because many of them did not have anyone at home to help with their homework. I really enjoyed see them really get true concept of their homework. – less
