Aggreko, LLC is an aggressive supplier of temporary power in North America. The company is a subsidiary of UK-based rental king Aggreko plc, a world leader in the design and leasing of power generators, temperature control equipment, oil-free compressors, and related equipment for refrigeration, heat, and dehumidification applications. From about 50 locations, Aggreko North America provides cooling, heating, and electrification services at natural disaster sites, as well as for more controlled events, such as the Super Bowl, the Olympic Games, and movie sets. Its products and services, however, are primarily used by the utility, oil and gas, military, manufacturing, and petrochemical and refining industries.
More than 2 million people attended the inauguration festivities in honor of President Obama in 2009, with Aggreko North America providing electrical power and heating equipment at sites around the District of Columbia. The company used 35 miles of cable to connect all of the equipment used. Additionally, Aggreko North America provided equipment for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, which generated $25 billion in revenue in the first quarter 2010.
Adding to its portfolio of industries served, Aggreko North America started working with Alliant Techsystems (ATK) in mid-2010 to supply low temperature chillers for the execution of a "cold motor" test on NASA's Ares solid rocket motor DM-2. A mobile building was set up for the test chamber for which Aggreko designed a low temperature air handler to achieve temperatures of 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
North America accounts for about 20% of Aggreko plc's sales. Aggreko North America is expanding its locations and services throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. It launched its sixth location in Louisiana in 2010 -- a new 4,000-sq.-ft. service center to meet the needs of its customers along the Gulf Coast. In 2009 it opened a new location in Alberta, Canada, to provide quicker service to its clients in that region. – less
