Great work experience
Certified Application Counselor (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILApril 23, 2015
This was an excellent work experience. I learned so much not only the Affordable Care Act, but the many organizations in the Chicago area that receive services from The Aids Foundation of Chicago. The work they do for the HIV/AIDS community is still very much needed. I was on the ground floor of determining the means of reaching potential applicants in need of healthcare enrollment and was able to jump in and offer opinions in a safe and supportive work environment. The hardest part of the job was selling the potential clients of the importance of healthcare with all the negative press presented to the public. The management and my co-workers were a joy to work with!
Pros
Meeting new people, my co-workers and the knowledge acquired about the Affordable Care Act
Cons
Temporary work

I worked here temporarily but had an awesome time. There are plenty of cross departmental volunteer opportunities and their special events are AMAZING!
Pros
great restaurants in walking distance from the office, great location downtown.
Cons
there are a lot of pigeons living under the overhead train tracks. watch out!

Organization is Stuck on Itself
VP, Fundraising (Former Employee) –  Chicago, ILMay 27, 2012
Culture is old and rigid. Board has little if any turn-over and is unwieldy. New leadership lacks knowledge of the breadth of the organization and US healthcare changes in general.
Pros
more concerned about getting awards, than turning out a quality product.
Cons
i've stated them.
