Ajinomoto U.S.A. wants to extend the reach of monosodium glutamate worldwide. The company is the US arm of one of East Asia's best-known companies (and brands), Ajinomoto. It manufactures and distributes Chinese-, Japanese-, and Korean-style foods and ingredients, including the aforementioned Ajinomoto brand MSG and Aspartame, Savor-Rich chicken seasoning, Crispy Fry breading mix, and Hon-Dashi fish-and-seaweed-flavored broth. Ajinomoto U.S.A. also makes amino acids for use in cosmetics, industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and nutritional supplements. Its Amino-Vital supplements are used by athletes and its Capsiate Natura supplements (derived from peppers) are available through health professionals.
Looking to attract non-Japanese consumers, the company runs commercials for its products in several languages, including Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and English. Ajinomoto U.S.A., which has been in operation since 1917, boasts offices in California, Illinois, New Jersey, and North Carolina.
