Technical Marketing Manager (Former Employee) –  Louisville, KYJuly 7, 2017
Cheap, cheap, cheap. Would not spend a dime for employee training, hardware or software. People were incompetent and miserable. Some were reputedly Ph. D.s but didn't know even basic Chemistry.

Maintenance Project Engineer (Chemicals) (Former Employee) –  Houston, TXJuly 6, 2017
Varied work day, a lot of hands on small project engineering. The management expected a lot in terms of unpaid over time, also the plant that I was at had a lot of old and somewhat unsafe equipment.
Pros
Good benefits

Lots of overtime/management is only out for themselves.
Production Activity Coordinator (Former Employee) –  High Point, NCJuly 5, 2017
I believe that Akzo used to be a great place to work out but over the last 5 years it's been going down hill. Since I worked there I seen 5 site managers come and go. You never knew who your boss was because everyone was barking orders. They let the lazy free but hold the hard workers accountable to make up for everyone not working. I am thankful for the overtime that's allowed me to buy the nice things but it wasn't worth what I went through working there.

Overtime

HSS Manager (Current Employee) –  Houston, TXMay 24, 2017
AkzoNobel is a decent company to work for but the future is unknown. They are implementing too many initiatives at one time and they do not take into account how the changes affect the work load of the site. The items that they are changing makes the plant life harder.
Pros
Compensation
Cons
Too many inititives

Sr. Production Assistant (Former Employee) –  Pasadena, TXMay 22, 2017
A typical day at work started at 8:00 am I would do a walk through of all the plants and confirm all production into SAP, and collect any campaigns that were complete. Once campaigns were complete I would verify all production and close the orders. Inventory investigation, inventory corrections, planning, consumed most of my day.
Pros
gym
Cons
appreciation was limited

Grinder Operator (Current Employee) –  Reading, PAApril 27, 2017
Managed by morons who wouldn't know their ear from their elbow. Third shift supervisor is an inbred redneck that enjoys small woodland creatures in his spare time.

Conservative culture that values employees
Master Black Belt (Current Employee) –  USAApril 24, 2017
Conservative European company which is making an effort to modernize internal processes in order to be competitive with peers.

Akzo values work life balance and has reasonable expectations about workload. However, cost cutting and internal reorganizations put pressure on employees and expectations are changing.
