could be worse, but could also be what it used to be...
Operator (Current Employee) – Waukegan, IL – October 18, 2016
Workers are pawns not people. Management says one thing and does another. Decisions made today would change tomorrow, and again the next day. A lot of workers do nothing but milk the clock and then complain they don't get raises or promotions (stupid). Always need overtime and never enough people. Good employees pick up the slack of bad workers while management avoids the issue. Good luck with HR.
Toxic environment at all levels. Weak unorganized upper management questionable ethics.
Procurement Manager (Former Employee) – Chicago, IL – August 18, 2016
If you enjoy high blood pressure, sleepless nights and a lot of heartburn. This is the place for you. Weak management with no interest in improving processes or effectiveness. If it doesn't immediately deliver high savings dollars they aren't interested. After years of high praise multiple additional duties added several promotions and internal recognition . All of a sudden you aren't the right fit 2 months after a new manager is hired? If you ain't Dutch you ain't much is commonly quoted across all businesses and levels.
Infrastructure Specialist (Current Employee) – Marietta, GA – September 1, 2016
Support of 30 different sites within the United States, Canada and Mexico.Typically worked on several projects at one time. Learned how to manage my time more effectively. Hands off Management to a degree. Remote co-workers was ideal. Learning the companies objectives alone. Learning more project based functions as it relates to I.T. etc..
Finance (Former Employee) – High Point, NC – June 15, 2016
Review all the jobs posted for High Point - that should be a red flag in itself. SMU level makes plenty of promises but they never come to fruition. Multiple reorganizations along with increased headcount have the site in a tailspin. If it weren't for their high margins they would be in a world of trouble. SMU Management on site now are great delegators so if you take a position there be prepared to work; you job, their job and probably some others. You should run and run fast!
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) – Deer Park, TX – August 10, 2016
Old (50 years +) plant and process units with bulged and buckled steel Reactors containing highly flammable paint product. Managed by obnoxious Nigerians who hate white people. This place is a major catastrophe waiting to happen.
If you like getting told I need it now or need it more then it's a place for you
Production Worker (Former Employee) – Warsaw, IN – June 5, 2016
Fast paced great people if you get to the right shift other wise a lot of back stabbing like everywhere you go. Management just does what they want and if you need something from hr then that person gives you a number to call instead of doing their job. They are spending too much money to trying to make the place look nice instead of fixing the machines. Their pay scales change every year so don't ever know if you are getting a raise or not you get told you are but then takes 4 months. You move up fast there if you tell them what they want to hear and you get positions you're not qualified for and seniority doesn't matter. So if you like working 6 days a week and not seeing your family then apply here
Some people were nice
Management thought they were better than you so they talked down to you
Chemical Operator (Former Employee) – Salisbury, NC – May 6, 2016
rotating 12 hour shifts, not able to work shiftwork due to being single parent. day at work was somewhat different. some days nothing but cleaning up, other days priorities had to be set to accomplish what needed . Floor work hot in summer, cold in winter, occasionally outside. climate controlled contol rooms where most of machinery operation occurred, some troubleshooting of computer controlled valves and other machinery. Management was mainly courteous and respectful, but had issues with child care and schedule.
Packer (Former Employee) – Waukegan, IL – May 3, 2016
Terrible management..they give you 2weeks vacation but always have a problem with you taking days off and they constantly black out days that you can take them due to always being behind and short staffed..the staff is big turn around due poor management the good employees always find themselves leaving pretty quick. Mangers always talk down to their employees and are quick to point out the flaws but never see the good in the employees. As a former employee their this was my title as a packer. Trust me when i say untill they change management stay away from this job/company you will end up miserable.
Management/ Always behind on work/ No chance of moving up in company
Production Lead (Former Employee) – Waukegan, IL – July 18, 2016
many unhappy employees, the work conditions do not improve, very poor management a typical day there you spend the first two hours of the day fire fighting problems. their is no discipline employees do not need to follow rules or processors
Material Analyst / Machine Operator (Current Employee) – Duluth, GA – April 6, 2016
Great job and very thankful for the opportunity! Typically wasy work days, very good co workers, small company so everybody knows everybody, management is friendly, as operator I worked on a 3 panel machine that mostly needed just my observation and quick thinking, only wish there was a greater chance of growth within the company.
Plant Operations Manager (Current Employee) – High Point, NC – July 10, 2016
Training was very poor and manager did not spend enough time with me. I did not care for it. the systems were poor also. Everyone works in silos and don't care about others. There is a lack of teamwork.
Great place to get training for QC Lab position or an plant operator position. Really bad place to stay. Very entrenched good old boy system, bad supervisors. Does NOT promote from within unless you are a good old boy.
HRSSC Representative - Contractor (Former Employee) – Chicago, IL – January 5, 2016
I found the HRSSC to be very unorganized and chaotic. The culture on the particular team was very unprofessional and they used swear words like crazy. I was surprised at the lack of accountabiltiy there. I was also surprised that there are more contractors verses actual employees. That was a red flag to me.
