Quality Control Technician (Former Employee) – Columbus, OH – September 5, 2017
Turnover rate is somewhat high, training is a joke. It's more a "learn from your mistakes and write-ups". Each shift has it's own attitude and way of doing things. If you send a batch out and it doesn't come back until until after you leave, someone else with take credit for competing it. When I left it was somewhat slow, however I hear mandatory overtime is roughly 10 hour shifts 7 days a week currently. 1 shift will train you and talk about you behind your back, 2nd shift will talk about you to your face and play favorites, and 3rd shift will be too sleepy to care about what goes out because 1st and 2nd will eventually catch it, write you up, and have you correct it.
Great benefits, salaried, hour lunches, job security
Hands off management, cliques, mandatory overtime, central HR
This company is constantly trying to improve. As production needs and customer needs change the company swiftly makes adjustments. The management team tries to make the culture fair and respectful. The most enjoyable part of the job is the family-like atmosphere. We laugh, but we work hard.
Good money but harsh hours. Lack of management leadership
Batch Maker (Former Employee) – High Point, NC – August 7, 2017
Good money but harsh hours. Hours are constantly changing and lack of management leadership. Great co workers to be working with. I learn a lot of new skills working here. Your co workers are your 2nd family since you work long hours that constantly change.
Team Leader (Current Employee) – Reading, PA – July 27, 2017
Good place to work for, benefits are great. Place where you can move up if you are willing. Over time available. Room to grow. Reward for perfect month and steak and lobster dinner for accented free year.
Lots of overtime/management is only out for themselves.
Production Activity Coordinator (Former Employee) – High Point, NC – July 5, 2017
I believe that Akzo used to be a great place to work out but over the last 5 years it's been going down hill. Since I worked there I seen 5 site managers come and go. You never knew who your boss was because everyone was barking orders. They let the lazy free but hold the hard workers accountable to make up for everyone not working. I am thankful for the overtime that's allowed me to buy the nice things but it wasn't worth what I went through working there.
A Operator/Material Handler/Bulk Tank Tech (Current Employee) – Houston, TX – June 15, 2017
it would be a better job if we had better leadership. although the leadership isn't that good I learnt a lot thru the other employees. the hardest part about my job is dealing with management other then.
