Detention Deputy, Gainesville, FL - May 3, 2016
a typical day starts out with the same formatted routine but throughout the day depending on the individuals you serve, there may be different management practices you need to employ to effectively serve your client ("inmates, general public, fellow staff and Administration"). I learned how to interact with a wide variety of individuals ranging from high functioning to low functioning individuals both in subordinate and supervisory roles in relation to my role. I learned how to effectively employ time management to complete all of my daily tasks and meet my required deadlines in a timely fashion. The hardest part of the job was to regain control after another person lost it on the former shift. Combating those actions that were made outside of the agency's policies and procedures with people who weren't following them proper was challenging but not impossible. The most enjoyable part of the job was building a rapport with the fellow staff and continuing education classes used for promotional purposes.
