Alameda County is one of the largest counties in Northern California, with 9000 employees and serving a population of over 1.4 million people on the East Bay. The Information Technology Department (ITD) offices are located next to Lake Merritt in Oakland, two blocks from Lake Merritt BART station.
The Alameda County Information Technology Department is organized in support of the County Board of Supervisors, departments and agencies.
Directs, coordinates and supervises the activities and operations of the Network Services team of the Information Technology Department. Provides technical support to the Deputy Director. Managing Network infrastructure/technologies and staff for the County IT Department. Has supervision responsibility for the professional staff of IT Engineers.
Job Requirements: Requires 5+ years of managing professional technical staff and 5+ years’ experience supporting network infrastructure. Excellent project management, communication, budgetary and documentation skills, including the ability to develop and write RFPs. The ability to plan, organize, manage and evaluate staff and communicate group activities effectively to the Deputy Director.
Provide leadership and guidance to a professional team of technical network engineers.
Strong network infrastructure experience
Communicate technology challenges and goals to an executive audience.
Develop and implement multi-year strategic plans.
Strong project management skills.
Review technical designs and strategies with staff.
AT&T, TW, Cisco, vendor management skills required
Internal client management skills required
Deep understanding of technologies, such as, Wireless, LAN, WAN, QoS, OPT-E-MAN, MPLS, VoIP, VPN, Firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), intranet/internet, HP Open View, ISE (Identify Services Engine) management tools, RADIUS/TACAS, SSL, Application Delivery Controllers, and related systems.
Understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange, SCCM, IIS and SQL, Clustering and SAN technologies, Security.
This is a management level position.
Annual Salary up to $158,184, based upon experience level. Excellent benefits offered; some of which include, County Pension Plan. Eleven (11) paid holidays per year + starting grant of 10 vacation days (increases over time) + additional starting grant of seven (7) management level paid vacation days + four (4) floating holidays + thirteen (13) sick days.
