Productive Environment and the desire for change.
Transportation Supervisor (Former Employee), Melrose Park, IL –
Pros: family oriented organization
Cons: room for advancement
Typical work day: Oversaw load planners, answered inquires, worked with procurement and the distribution centers, communicated daily with carriers.

I learned how procurement negotiate rates.

My co-workers were pleasurable and understoon the importance, meaning the customers are our priority.

Hardest part of job: Having a consensus , when implementing – more...  change.

Enjoyable part of my job was training, watching my department grow with change and becoming a great team. – less

Productive and interesting place to work while it lasted
Finance Manager (Current Employee), Chicago, IL –
Pros: good overall compensation package
Cons: acquired and downsized
Alberto Culver was a growing consumer products firm that was doing extremely well. Management sold out to Unilever last year and the operations in Chicago are winding down as production and HQ shift to other locations. While I was there it was an interesting place to work where you could serve in many roles since the company was so small relative to – more...  the leaders in its pier group. Management was focused on growing the company and spinning off the non-core assets (ie. Cederroth & Sally Beauty) which now presumably was in anticipation of a sale. The people were good fun to work with and everyone had a good humor and healthy balance to their lives outside of work. – less
