Independant work which is physically demanding, yet surrounded by a great work environment.
Product Selector (Current Employee), Valparaiso, INJune 17, 2014
Pros: numerous breaks, great benefits, independantly work, great relationships
Cons: no set time end of work day, never have a full weekend scheduled off
I really love working at the Aldi Distribution Warehouse. I work in the perishable department which consists of the cooler and freezer. My co-workers are amazing and this is why I love my job so much. I do know that my body was not made for this line of work due to having chronic shoulder and wrist problems due to working here. I have a small build – more... and although I am physically fit, the doctors have even said that my height and build does create a limitation. Great company to work for, but physically demanding. – less

Friendly Workplace
Warehouse Selector (Former Employee), Tully, NYMay 12, 2014
Stacked on average anywhere from 16-25 pallets per day to fill store orders. Pallets would be stacked by product in order ensure product integrity for shipment. We used pallet jacks/tuggers which allowed transport of two pallets. Store orders were received via headset. Once both pallets are filled they are taken to a plastic wrap machine and wrapped, – more... hand labeled and place in proper pick up line. We worked as a team to fill all store orders. Typically one selector will pick one full store order and to finish the remaining will be split among the team and finished. Co-workers were friendly and helpful. If there was a spill anyone around would stop what they are doing to help get it cleaned up. – less

Production is Key
Warehouse Order Filler (Former Employee), Jefferson, GAMay 4, 2014
A typical work day would be going in doing stretches and getting your headset and pallets together to begin your work day. I learned how to pick, pack, and build pallets full of products as tall as 6 ft. Management was great and pushed me to get better everyday. My co-workers were fun but of course you have some co-workers that you don't deal with and – more... that are not helpful. The hardest part of the job was trying to catch another store order to make your production goal before someone else did. I liked the work out and the pay but it is only a 1st shift job so when everything is done you have to go home. – less

A typical day at work is being fast and efficient.
Lumper (Former Employee), Kansas City, MODecember 26, 2013
Pros: fast paced, meeting new people, pay, benefits
Cons: aises, management, expectations, quality of workplace, scheduling, safety
A typical day at work is being fast and efficient. I have learned a lot about running a store, the ups and downs. Most grocery stores pay separate employees depending on the department, but aldi employees do it all. I have a lot of respect for all our employees, everyone works very hard and we always get the job done.

Hours were perfect with small children; Insurance is great
Selector (Current Employee), Batavia, ILNovember 24, 2013
Pros: lunch on the weekends; tools are provided.
from start to finish, it is a non stop fast paced environment. I have learned to pace myself for a physically demanding job. Management is fair and involved with their employees. The hardest part of the job is the six days a week physical demand. I would love to move forward in this Company; however spaces are limited and the only way up os through – more... seniority. I have 13 years in and still picking on a daily basis. Would love to try my skills in other ventures. – less

Aldi's Warehouse is a great place to work.
Pallet Builder (Former Employee), Batavia, ILAugust 19, 2013
The hours for this job ranges daily, but you can always count on leaving work before 4:00pm. It is a physical job with no customer interactions and limited co-worker interactions. If you enjoy working by yourself and having your work judged on an individual basis, this is a great place to work.

Job is as mentally demanding as is physically, be ready for challenges.
Selector (Former Employee), Spencer, NCMarch 11, 2013
Pros: good pay when hours are there.
Cons: if not a holiday, no hours. therefore pay is shockingly different.
If you are willing to give 110%, they will take it. Be sure your physically able.

Warehouse Assistant (Former Employee), FaverdaleJune 12, 2014
My job was to do picking and packing at Aldi. I learnt how to drive an order picker, i had training on general health and safety, also trained how to use voice command using an headset. Didnt find the management helpful as i was getting told one thing from Aldi and another from Manpower. Didnt get much chance to get to know many people due to the time – more... i was working there but already had friends that worked there. The hardest part of the job was the lifting. – less

order picking (Former Employee), naasApril 7, 2014
Aldi was a nice but hard job. Employees had to keep a 310 pick rate per hour and could not drop bellow or the employee would get a warning. I learned to use voice activated picking systems and also learned to work very hard. My management were very friendly but strict and were always willing to help. The hardest part of the job was working in a freezer – more... and also learning to drive the power pallet trucks but everyone gets use to that after a while. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people and the work itself i loved every minute of it. – less
