Horrible place to work.
Teacher (Current Employee) –  Alexandria, VANovember 1, 2015
Teachers are treated very badly by Alexandria School System. Huge turnover. Told not to waste time on students who could pass Standards of Learning test or those students who were too far behind to catch up. Told to only focus on students who were close to passing test. Parents should not send their students to this school system. Poor education, lots of violence, no consequences. Administration only worried about the numbers. Horrible working conditions. Atmosphere of despair by students and teachers alike.
Pros
Other teachers.
Cons
Violent place to work with abusive administration

Consistently requested and recommended for substituting opportunities by 3 lead teachers at local elementary schools. Work within Special Education classrooms and coordinate with lead teachers to ensure consistency and stability of classroom environment.

Provide supervision of students in designated areas such as classrooms, halls, cafeterias, auditoriums, and gymnasiums.

Maintain the K-5 instructional program with assignments, tests, and homework provided by the regular teacher.

Provided a great team supported work environment. Long hours to meet tight, mandated deadlines; however, felt a great sense of accomplishment when tasks was completed and from accolades received from external organizations. Very casual work environment. Flexible work hours.
