Busy allergy office in Frisco is seeking an experienced, energetic Patient Account Specialist to join their team.

Daily duties include:

  • Answer and direct phone calls and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner
  • Schedule and confirm appointments using EMR
  • Check patients in and out
  • Verify patient insurance, estimate patient responsibility (co-pay, deductible, co-insurance), collect and post patient payment
  • Assist with daily charge posting and submitting electronic and paper claims
  • Balance end of day (closing)
  • Account reconciliation, posting EOBs manually and electronically
  • Obtain claim status on aging claims
  • Process patient refunds as necessary
  • Process patient statements monthly and as EOBs are posted
  • Obtain referral and prior-authorization for services as needed by insurance companies
  • Fulfill medical record requests and document according to HIPAA regulations
  • Other tasks as needed

Experience and Skills Required:

  • At least 1-2 years medical office experience
  • Computer proficiency and EMR experience is a MUST
  • Pleasant and professional phone and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of health care insurance claim processing
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 (ICD-10 a PLUS!!)
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance (for storing office supplies and assisting patients)

Experience in allergy & asthma and marketing is a PLUS!
