Not an enjoyable job, used as a job while commuting to college.
Security Officer Shift Supervisor (Current Employee), Hershey, PAJuly 25, 2014
Cons: no breaks, every little thing about the company was terrible.
Not an enjoyable job, pay was unfair and off frequently, poor management, not worth the money, would not recommend the company to anyone. Basically work for nothing, so big companies get insurance breaks, if you are a supervisor you will get screwed on your paychecks as they won't pay you your wages unless you are "in charge" also others from various – more... sites make more than you, even when you are in charge. Management of the company is terrible and require training courses online that are nothing short of a waste of time. – less

A company that provides experiences and movement
Operations Manager (Current Employee), Mountville, PAJuly 25, 2014
Pros: internal promotion opportunities at the security officer level
Cons: workload and life balance
The responsibilities and demands are set very high, as the company prides itself on being a leading Contract Security Provider. There are many challenges in the management levels, balance workload and personal life. The company, compared to other similar organizations, supports their officers and works hard to bring the best out in their work.

Senior – more... Management is good as they do not micromanage and place trust into the lower level manages to complete their daily, weekly, and monthly objectives. – less

good organization but management poor
Security Guard (Former Employee), seattle waJuly 25, 2014
sitting at a security desk staring at employees as they enter and exit noting any unusual occurrences. I learned about time management and following procedures laid out without deviation. The management was poor and employees` grievances were not addressed professionally. Most of my co-workers were good employees and we performed our duties well as – more... a team and as individuals. Hardest part of the job was when there was an incident be it a medical emergency or security breach, then I had to write lots of reports.
Most enjoyable part of the work day was the end of the day. – less

Pros: the pay is great
Cons: it is a union shop
AlliedBarton is not a bad place to work the supervisors are easy to work with and for the most part the rest of the guards are great people. I have learned a lot about the operation of their security practices . the alarm system of the site dispatching officers to the proper areas the hardest part of the job is working the truck gate one guard two gates – more... you get tired fast. the best thing is mobile patrols . – less

Good Company
Corporal (Former Employee), Charlotte, NCJuly 24, 2014
Pros: good people, decent pay
Cons: not enough control by alliedbarton management
AlliedBarton was a good company to work for, and the training was adequate for the job. Since it's contract security, however, much of the time management decisions are left up to the client or property manager, and this can cause issues. As a security officer you know what needs to happen to secure an area/facility, but the property managers sometimes – more... don't, and won't allow certain changes. That's the nature of the security business, however. – less

Security Officer (Current Employee), Dillon, SCJuly 22, 2014
I would sign in and out truck drivers so they could pick up theri loads and head to the next place. I learned that having patience is the only way the survive in this industry. My co-workers were wonderful to work with and the hardest part of my job is getting out of bed to come. :-) i like my job but the pay could be better.

Pros: relaxed atmosphere
Cons: n/a
My typical day working for Allied Barton Security Services consisted of patrolling the building and premises, monitoring the CCTV System, and interacting with employees currently in the building. I learned how to communicate with different co-workers and create a more professional environment.

Allied Barton's logo is, "Not like all security companies." I beg to differ. It is just like all security companies. I can say that it is great break wise we get a 30 minute break ever hour and a half worked.
