Concierge (Current Employee) – Overland Park, KS – September 6, 2015
A typical day at the campus entails, a lot of meeting and greeting for the concierges. We are the first person our visitor's see when they walk through those double doors. Rather it be for a business meeting, interview, or just a husband coming to meet with his wife for lunch, we always make sure that we make the campus experience as pleasant as possible. Which is what I enjoyed the most. Interacting with the employee's and the guest really sharped my customer services skills which will prove useful in my future career. The hardest part of the job for me would have to be, being confined to the desk for 12hours and not being abled to go off campus when your on the clock for lunch, but other than that no complaints. On the topic of management, they could really use some tuning when it comes to communication, but as far as everything else goes we really have a strong team of leaders that help us keep the campus in order. All the things that I've gathered and learned from my experience on campus would have to be, to always stay vigilant, make a conscious decision to say "good morning" or "good night" to strangers because you never know what people might be going through in the work place, and keep a professional demeanor at all times because you never know who is watching you.
Gaining great connections on a business level.
Poor benefits, you have to wait 2years for vacation time, & no raises.
