Pros: helping people, field work, working from home, i truly love my job!
Cons: few cons, at times the job is stressful. but overall, it is a great job.
I handled claims mostly in the Northern Virginia area, but would drive when needed anywhere (mostly with in a 100 mile radius). My "territory" included Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. Typically, I was assigned three claims per day.
Each day each claim involved 1.) Field Documentation 2.) Photos and Description. Sketch, Estimate written – more... in Xactimate 28 and to issue a draft on site. Partial or Full Denial Letters when appropriate. All attached to each file.
Our assignment was considered moderate field losses....Each less was up to $20k, not including mitigation and flooring. All Claims above as outlined above would be transferred to our large loss unit.
Our role was to handle claim volume.
What I Learned,
I have become an expert in assessing hail claims to roof, siding. All types of water losses to include mold handling.
Management, encouraging, supportive and readily available for questions when ever necessary.
The Virginia Field Unit supported one another and worked as a team to work all claims.
Hardest Part of the Job, Handling three per day on a consistent basis especially if they were involved. Most claims were settled on site or same day.
Most Enjoyable Part of the Job,
Helping customer's (external and internal) and making a difference in their lives! – less
