I liked working at Alltel. I loved the challenges that each and every call brought.

A typical day included helping customers that came into the store, bill payments, account questons/concerns, and offering customers products and services for a sales solution. Managment at my store was terrible, it is a shame that a company as good as Alltel can let such a poor manager continue to work for them. As a keyholder, the team respected leaders and worked very well together. The team had a very fun and proficient atmosphere. Management was very supportive in helping us to achieve goals. Commissions we paid based on performance and the team did very well.

Hunting and gathering new business, as well as maintaining current accounts.
Consistently visiting potential clients and existing clients to gather information about bettering their business through communication products and services.

Management trained through consistent programs and executed efficiently.

I worked for Alltel twice. It is a great company to work for. I had to have surgery that was why I quit.

I was a customer service representative at Alltel. I enjoyed talking to customers and handling their needs. I did not enjoy the structure of the company and the extremely fast pace. I don't mind a fast pace but sometimes this was ridiculous. Everything was timed and monitored. You were reprimanded for being on the phone too long with a customer. I had – more...  issues with this because I believe as a customer they want to feel secure and comfortable with the way their questions or problems are handled. I understand the urgency because of the amount of phone calls coming into the center but I didn't feel as though I was able to do my job to the best of my ability. – less

As a Customer Service Trainer I would supervise a class of 10-15 new hires and take them through learning their jobs being a Customer Service Rep. I would educate them on policies and procedures. Gave them Clear expectations of what their day to day functions would be. How to sell to the customer and how to go above and beyond with every customer to make sure they had a positive experience. I would supervise the class for 5 weeks addressing any behavioral, tardy, absences, as well as HR issues and payroll. When I was not in a class then I would be working closely with individual teams and reps to coach to opportunities that the rep might be struggling with. When I also was not in classes then I would take the opportunity to do additional training to further my skills with training and management. I was also responsible for keeping up on training materials that needed to be updated and maintained due to change in business needs.
I worked with a wonderfully supportive team with a boss that was truly supportive, fair, motivating. The Customer Service team of Managers and Supervisors were also very supportive and open. We worked closely together to make sure that the reps were always very prepared for when they left training. Hard part about the job was when we were pushing hiring to ramp up then I would have sometimes 4-6 back to back classes.
I can honestly say that I loved everything about my job from the people I worked for and with. I most enjoyed watching the students grow and go on to do great things in the company. – less

I felt Alltel was the best company I ever worked for! You felt appreciated and always received training and help in a timely fashion. I miss them so very much! The hardest part of the job was that the industry has so much change it can be hard to kep up

I enjoyed the experience with Alltel. The company provided excellent compensation for hard workers along with a true family atmosphere.

This was a great company to work for. There was a lot of room for advancement and with enough hard work and dedication you could go as far as you wanted. The managers were always willing to help get you where you wanted to go. Most times the customers you dealt with were very nice, but definitely need to have the right skills to make those customers – more...  that come in mad walk out with a smile. The biggest drawback with this company for me was I had a family and it was hard to work the hours needed there and balance it with enough time for my family, so I made the decision to find something different. – less

My favorite department I worked in was the Offline Department. This was a small family like team that consisted of many great people.

Greet and examine client accounts for upgrade possibilities and account management. Created a friendly and safe sales atmosphere for clients as well as for other employees. It's ok, if you're content with sitting at a desk all day, talking on phone & looking at computer screens. Very strict on time & attendance.

Honestly, I loved working with the people of alltel and the company. The compensation was excellent and the goals were obtainable and challenging at the same time. Management was helpful and did not hesitate to help you be the best you can be. If the company would not have been bought out, I would still be working there.

I had wonderful co-workers. I worked on my own all of the time. I had several responsibilties as far as opening and closing the store. I took bank deposit to the bank, and ran the store with only one or two other co-workers taking turns with the shift.

great place to start out in. great for those in school. flexible hours.
