What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Amedisys? What do you like best about working at Amedisys? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

I worked for Amedisys for 5 years as a BOS. I always had great inventories, always willing to help in any capacity I was needed. I transferred to another office closer to my home when the DOO (who was a wonderful, helpful and great person to work for) changed her position in the company. I don't blame her she worked so many hours.Well, they hired a person to take her place who was not easy to get along with, lied, and did not know my job mustless hers. She did not have our pts. interest at heart. She let me go a few weeks before Christmas. I had my grandchild I was raising and my husband was out of work. I had lost my brother than 99 days later lost my sister (both in their 40's)I had tried to get help from higher up about the way she treated people that worked under her. No help from anyone. She called me in her office on Dec 8th and told me I was terminated. I ask her why. She told me she was not going into that! Than while I was tring to gather my things (after I called my husband to come get me) she stood over my desk like I was going to steal something. She was rude to my husband when he came in to get me as well. I was on unemployment for 2 years. You see she never responded to the unemployment office about why I was let go so they paid me for 2 years. When I got intouch with someone at the corporate office to find out why I was let go I was told in an email that I was insubordinate and that I had issues withhow I scheduled. The BOM told the DOO at that time that I scheduled just like her and the way I was trained. As for insubordinate there was only once that I refused to do what she told me. That was to dig a paper out of the shredder that I had made an error on.I refused to do that. She thought my error would make me look bad.All I had done was redo the paperwork in the first place. After I was let go several nurses left due to the working conditions. Not long afterwards that DOO resigned. All I can say is Amedisys lost many good employees due to one person

My advice to one and all : stay away from Amedisys. The pay is good, but the culture is horrific. I worked for them for 2 years. They promised a full time salary until my caseload built up to full time. Then they went and hired another person who does what I do, keeping me from getting a full time caseload. Then they broke their promise and put us all on per-visit pay (the "regional initiative")... so I no longer had full time pay or work. Finally I reduced to part-time and got other work. They still demanded that I go to every meeting and do everything else FT employees do. They became extremely inflexible, often interfering with my other work, and their computer (needed in the field) kept breaking on me, requiring hours and hours on the phone with the Info. Technology people. All this interfered with scheduling and when a very inflexible or even psychotic patient complained about scheduling changes, they wrote me up. They even wrote me up when an Alzheimers patient referred to me as "that mean man" -- failing to interview those who witnessed every session I had with that patient. Management has no qualms about going after employees whom they even suspect are not going along entirely with the company .. esp. if they are towards the top of the pay scale. I took only 1 vacation during my nearly 2 years with the company -- for a whopping half week (2 days after Memorial day). My manager promised she would have coverage arranged. But when I called the PRN clinician to report on my patients, she said she never agreed to see all those patients. I had to spend until 8 pm seeing patients the night before I was to leave at 5 am to go see my family. When I repeated this to the big boss and my manager, they didn't flinch. I have been in medicine almost 2 decades, and Amedisys is far and away the WORST company I have ever worked for. They treat employees horribly, and managers demand perfection while they excuse themselves for everything

What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does Amedisys stack up against the competition?

I have worked for Amedisys for a short period of time. First as a LPN in the field then I took a postion as a BOS in the office. I thought being in the office environment would be much easier than the field. WHAT A SHOCK!!! The mounds and mounds of paperwork I go through on a daily basis. Has anyone taught the clinicians what does and does not require a written order? Logging is a joke. It is like our clinicians are not help accountable for any of their own activities. They tell us to call or text the clinician to bring in their activity logs. I just want to scream at them, "bring it in on time or you don't get paid for those visits, period!!" Clinicians aren't asked to be accountable, but all of us in the office better be or heads will fly. Our DOO skipped out on us after her vacation. Just this week our BOM and both CMs have quit or changed positions in the office. That left only myself and one other BOS. Another Amed office in a nearby town was shut down, or, er, I mean, they have C O N S O L I D A T E D with us. New people coming in the door, some disgruntled. Talk about workplace stress!!! I truly want to remain in my current position but all the changes and the lies from higher ups is taking a toll on my sanity. Constantly being told thing will "get better" and so far they haven't. Whatever happened to the Core Values? Remember why we are here. OH, Communicate with fear of retaliation, that's a joke!!

Our company was taken over by Amedisys in July. What a nightmare it has been. We got no training, oh excuse me, we were told to read the manual. If you are good friends with the DOO AND BOM your job was saved. We lost around close to 20 very good individuals, from nursing to clerical. When I walk in the office at the end of the day, I see secretaries crying, CSM's with red faces and disgusted looks. This company is by far the worst company anyone can work for. They did not pay for our accurred vacation time, raised our premiums for health care, some people pay out of pocket around 300.00 every two weeks for their family. And they state this is a family oreinted company!! This is a money hungry company only looking out for themselves. They are idiots who feel that this change is for the good. I along with many of my friends here are looking for other jobs. The quality of care has dropped. We work longer hours for less pay. Now we are being paid per diem, so if you don't have enough patients to see, your paycheck drops drastically. We were trained on lap tops for 2 hours then sent on our merry way. If you make a mistake, you get written up for it. This company will not survive in our area. This area wants the old way back or they are pulling out. Our referrals have dropped. Word is out on the street. If you are planning to get a job here, think twice, then as it was stated run, run, run. Flipping burgers is better that a job with Amedisys. Just ask all the transition agencies. They'll tell you how stressful it has become. I can't wait to get out of here. I'm a nurse and nursing is in big demand and I want to be a part of a great company, not one that treats their employess like Amedisys's does. People beware! Wrong company to get involved with.

It's always hard to know what to expect when going in for that interview -- and preparation can make all the difference. What is the interview process like at Amedisys? Any advice on striking the right note?
