The Technical Specialist will be technically skilled with working in installation and maintenance of computer hardware and provides end-user support and troubleshooting. AACD is primarily a Microsoft shop, with a few Mac machines. We are a small association of no more than 25 users. This person is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the local area network hardware. This person will work with the Director of Information Technology on the implementation of new technologies; will also play a role in coordinating other small scale software installations and upgrade initiatives. This would include assisting the Director of Information Technology in facilitating upgrades to systems with the latest versions of software, the rollout of new hardware and staff training.
Provide detailed problem resolutions of day to day user computer issues.
Keep inventory current and document any changes to warranty detail and or hardware configuration.
Respond to service requests, initiated by email, phone calls or remotely.
Track computer requests using appropriate tools. .
Handle multiple project responsibilities simultaneously, to prioritize work and resolve technical emergencies as they may occur.
Manages and implements software distribution packages in order to distribute new software, upgrades and patches to AACD user computers.
Provide advanced support of microcomputer hardware platform, supported printers, scanners and other hardware peripherals.
Ability to configure and set up computers and diagnose problems with hardware components, memory management and operating system.
Mentor and provide training for new personnel with various functions, duties, and documentation.
Identify areas of efficiency deserving attention in the technical support environment and consults with the Director of Information Technology as to how to build upon or repair situations.
Maintain a solid working knowledge of all the equipment and systems the association supports by keeping current with all documentation and by working with the Director of Information Technology.
Develop support and training tools that increase system usability.
Maintains security and integrity of software program files and hardware.
Provide regular status reports and project process to the Director of Information Technology.
Assists in the preparation of written documentation and procedures for use with AACD applications
Day to day maintenance of network servers (backups, administration, hardware maintenance)
Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Information Technology.
Minimum requirement is a high school diploma or GED. Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or advanced industry coursework, especially certification is highly desirable. Continued information technology course work is required.
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience working with multi-platform systems and related applications or any equivalent combination of education and experience that satisfy the requirements of the job.
Must work well both independently and in a team environment. Must be a self-starter.
