I learned so much about the backside of banking at this job. Management was ok. The Chief Compliance Officer was rude at times but at least she cared about her employees. It's a small bank but they do a lot of business in the community which is a good thing. I loved that I was able to learn back office work but the drive took a toll on me. It was too far from home and I found myself falling asleep driving home.
Teller (Former Employee) – Jacksonville, FL – June 19, 2017
nice management and great employees at American Bank. typical day you would count your cash drawer before you start your day. You would assets customers with their transactions. Turn over at 2pm for the next work day. Count the draw down the balance at the end of the day.
Excellent opportunity for growth, learning, working and learning in other departments. Staff is personable, professional, caring. I worked in Investments where we had daily deadlines. Staff knew when to laugh and joke and let off pressure.
Event Staff (Former Employee) – Corpus Christi, TX – November 13, 2016
The typical work day was usually just helping customers find their seats and other areas of the building. I learned how to multitask. I didn't think our management was that great, we didn't have a set schedule and either worked past our time or left as much as 3 hours early. My co-workers were fine, some took obvious advantage of our boss and some just did their job as best they could so they could leave. The hardest part of my job was having to constantly tell people to put their signs away or to take their things back to the car or to throw it away, many customers would get agitated. The most enjoyable part would be having delightful conversations with the customers I helped. Although I'd get my fare share of rude customers, I just loved being able to talk to all with a smile.
Summary says it all. It was a fun place to come to work. However, the training and skills imparted from management generally referred to jumping on the phone and having stronger male genitalia. Then one day my management staff just up and left. I left after that.
Personal Banker (Former Employee) – Dallas, TX – December 1, 2015
I started here as a teller and moved around to other job positions. I learned alot about banking, but there was not alot of room for advancement. Once you leave, you are not re-hirable, as with most banking jobs.

The Work Environment became difficult to deal with.
Personal Banker/Teller (Current Employee) – Port Aransas – July 5, 2015
I arrive everyday 15 minutes early so that I can help do any work that needs to be done before the lobby opens. My favorite days are the days that are very busy. I enjoy making our customers happy by helping them out.
I enjoyed working here at first, but then the work environment changed to a negative feel.
Commercial Bank Teller (Former Employee) – Waco, TX – March 4, 2015
I enjoyed most of my co-workers, but professionalism was lacking in the management. I loved the customers and handling their transactions. The most enjoyable part was handling money and then balancing to the penny.
