A typical day at American Girl would be busy all the time booking appointments and styling up a doll . The most challenging thing I had to learn was how to make a fish braid on a doll. Even though it took me about three work days I managed to learn how to make a french braid. Clock in, Check the schedule to see which area you will be working in, go to designated area, straighten items, walk around, continue to straighten items, etc..
Hardest part is the short break, the long standing times, pretending to keep busy when you have nothing else to do..
Enjoyable part is meeting new people everyday
I learned a different cashiering – more... system, that was pretty much it..

We had a routine before store opens we had morning meetings where we discuss things and learned new products and made goals for the day. I learned that doing your job the best you can and enjoying what you do will make the job feel spectacular. The management was well put together and they encouraged me and others. Stifling, dreary--everything you'd hope a toy company wouldn't be. How do worn out employees make good toys, books, and products? They don't. Terrible management and leadership have left everyone with low morale and no enthusiasm. Never spoke to one other employee who was happy. There is no advancement even to make it worth staying.
Benefits are decent, – more... but not worth trading your happiness for. One employee referred to that as golden handcuffs.
Worse than going to a jail cell daily. – less

great working there- good hours- poor management- free lunch- schedule fluctuates depending on season sometimes pretty drastically- great coaching opprotunities

I enjoyed the experience and learn alot about the company that i never knew.

I only worked here for a "seasonal" position but I feel that was only because one of the managers felt as if I didn't smile enough and tried to suspend me until I called corporate and told them about the issue & then they decided that my position was seasonal. My co workers were fun, it was a lot of women but no drama. American Girl was a great job overall. Just like any sales job or any job that consist of different type of people the costumers where the most uplifting part of the job. Making Magic with the little girl, that can be just putting a smile on the child face.

working at american girl made me gain lots more confidence in myself because i interacted with children from all over the world also their parents. i learned to smile even if i was in a bad mood but being at americal girl made me feel better knowing i was helping that special little girl find her right doll was a wonderful expericence co workers and – more... manager where wonderful happy people. the hardest part of the job was being surrounded in a fast pace enivironment where there was loud talking and screaming also very crowed but that did not stop me from making a little girl magical moment happen. the most enjoyable part was seeing little girls come dressed in like their dolls and also making everyone smile knowing that i helped them. – less

Hard work and success in not vauled. Upper leadership is easily influenced by "BAD" apples in the tree. Great staff members ro work with.

Everyone nice since you step in the store, from co workers to store manager, always resolve problems base on the rules and situation, never accuse you until they are totally sure and even there they are really polite and respectfull.

A typical day at American Girl was different experience for me. This business sell dolls for little girls. But it was a great experience because the work was easy and fun see them girls happy about getting a doll. I was a stocker there and provided customer service.

They treat their employees very well treating them to pizza,free coffee and a very good holiday dinner and a huge gift box full of toys. But the season is very short. I only could work for about a month.

Great work environment, But was a seasonal job. I would love to work there and make it my main job but sadly they don't hire on everybody for good.

Filling external and internal orders customer orders.
I overseen up to 70 employees during the Christmas season.

I was the personal shopper incharge to shop along with the customers and assist them with all of their shopping needs.

Would recommend this position to everyone. I love talking to the customers. All of them are very supportive of the company. I get to talk to some young girls daily.

Much different on the inside than on the outside. Can't see why some continue for years here.
