For those whose home maintenance skills don't rival Bob Vila's, there's American Residential Services (operating as ARS/Rescue Rooter). The company is an amalgamation of some 100 firms combined to create a national home improvement services company specializing in heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, plumbing, sewer and rain services, and electricity, as well as major home appliance installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement. With some more than 60 locations across the US, ARS/Rescue Rooter services homes as well as small commercial buildings. The company is owned by CI Capital Partners, Royal Palm Capital Partners, and its management.
Making acquisitions is a major part of ARS/Rescue Rooter's business strategy. The company purchased the residential services division of Beutler Corporation in 2010 and the two companies formed a strategic alliance in Northern California. In 2009 the company bought Dallas-based Efficient Attic Systems, which provides blown-in insulation, attic ventilation, and radiant barrier services. The purchase marked ARS' expansion into energy-efficient products and services. A year earlier ARS/Rescue Rooter expanded westward when it snatched up Lloyds Plumbing Heating & Air, located in California and Service Max, Yes! -- which specialized in the Las Vegas market. The company also established its first location in Boston with the acquisition of HVAC services provider Climate Zone in 2008.
In addition to its acquisition strategy, ARS expands its scope through a partnership with Home Depot Home Services. Through the arrangement, ARS provides HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air conditioning) replacement services through more than 250 Home Depot locations nationwide.
