American Sales Company is an affiliate of Ahold USA and began its purchasing and distribution services in 1994. The company was then housed in a 200,000 square foot warehouse. In 2001, ASC expanded into its current state-of-the-art distribution center. The new facility is nearly three times the size of its original home and is located at the intersection of Walden and Pavement Roads in Lancaster, New York. ASC has quickly grown to become one of the largest distributors of health and beauty care items, seasonal items, and general merchandise in the United States, shipping about four million units per week.
Advances at the ASC distribution center have established the company as an industry leader in effectively satisfying customer needs. Integrated technologies have allowed ASC to advance beyond the industry standard of simply shipping products in "case lots." Customers are able to order exact quantities, even in unconventional amounts, and ASC can facilitate those specific requests with ease. An ever-increasing inventory of better than 23,000 different items means ASC stocks both the latest products as well as familiar brands that remain in great demand. To handle the sheer volume of goods, Seasonal merchandise is shipped out of a satellite facility located on Scrivner Drive in Cheektowaga.
