Director of Supply Chain (Former Employee) –  Woburn, MANovember 21, 2016
The company is successful and provides good benefits. However, senior management leads by perception and has a bias against diverse emloyees. If you do not click with your manager then good performance has no value.

Overall was quite the experience working for them.
Tower Technician (Current Employee) –  Bloomington, ILAugust 8, 2016
typical work days were strenuous and difficult but not ever day was like that. learned several skills in telecommunications, communications, troubleshooting, technical support, problem solving, deductive reasoning, and budgeting.Management fell short in several areas of communication and motivation, when it came to immediate supervisors knowing their positions and what means they can assist you there was a lack of knowledge and experience. Handling the unreasonable work load was the worst experience of this position. demands were heavy and expected to be completed in nearly impossible times or ways. Learning different skills and the co workers were great people to learn from.
Pros
benefits, pay, schedule
Cons
management, communication, chain of command.

Senior Manager, Managed Real Estate (Former Employee) –  Boca Raton, FLJune 20, 2016
Large bureaucratic function based company. Sometimes difficult to get things accomplished. Some incredibly talented employees who taught me a lot about the wireless business and how important project management can be in a functional type company.

Wonderful Place to be
Supply Chain Analyst (Former Employee) –  RemoteApril 29, 2016
Work life balance was exceptional, most managers truly care about the business and culture. I enjoyed my days and learned so much about accounting and finance. Would rate ATC as a top employer.
Pros
Work Life Balance, Peer support, Supportive coworkers, friendly enviroment
Cons
Too many new managers being brought in from other companies, breaks down morale and leads to frustration. Need to promote within more.

American Tower is a good place to work with a happy work life balance. Teamwork is encouraged by upper management. I have enjoyed my time here.

Property Tax Specialist (Contract) (Current Employee) –  Atlanta, GAApril 25, 2016
Nice job culture, mixed. No real stability here at this job. There were many temps that came to this job. Contractors were secluded.

Unstable management structure, little room for advancement
CAD Drafter (Former Employee) –  Cary, NCApril 14, 2016
Don't expect to move up and don't expect a decent raise, even if you do more/better work than anyone else.

I had a new manager every year or two.

Management kept hiring contractors to 'keep up with the workload', but they wouldn't hire anyone until it reached a crisis and then got upset that it takes time to train new workers.

Culture of laziness, blame shifting and poor communication.

Efforts at getting necessary information from other departments was frequently met with passive resistance and occasional outright hostility.

Many employees do not follow their department's published operating procedures.

Process changes were frequently implemented without full consideration or consulting with all affected departments and frequently had to be adjusted mid roll out due to unanticipated impacts.

Process 'improvements' inevitably made jobs take longer and employees who pointed out this fact were accused of being lazy and dishonest.

Management tended to adopt a 'shoot the messenger' policy for problems they didn't want to deal with.
Pros
the work is easy
Cons
the work is incredibly tedious and sometimes frustrating

Construction Project Manager (Former Employee) –  Irving, TXApril 6, 2016
It is one of the best company to work for. A typical 9-5 typical office is not, I have learned a lot in the short period of time I was with ATC. the management has an open door policy and easy to communicate with higher ups. The co-worker are very friendly and easy to work with and very helpful. The hardest part of the job was understanding all the database that ATC uses. The best part about ATC are the people.

Good Starter Job
Structural Engineering Contractor (Current Employee) –  Raleigh, NCMarch 20, 2016
Good people, lots of ways to learn from other engineers. Work can be repetitive but is always an evolving challenge to improve your numbers. Numbers are highly valued with this company. Co-workers are nice people. Management likes to hold nearly impossible goals.
Pros
Good Pay nice people.
Cons
25 contractors, 3 hired for full time.

Deployment Manager (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNMarch 11, 2016
Typical day consisted of conference calls with construction managers, updating status, ensure equipment status, operation checks of communications equipment and ensuring proper staffing of events. Unfortunately my contract came to an end. However, I would welcome another opportunity to work with the teams at American Tower.

The Big "Brush Off"
Legal Contractor (Former Employee) –  Woburn, MAFebruary 5, 2016
The training was inadequate, the on the job communication was poor, the pay was low. There were no incentives. Manager gave everyone the "brush off" saying she was too busy with her other responsibilities.

Legal Contractor (Current Employee) –  Woburn, MANovember 15, 2015
American Tower is a good place to work as a contractor (you are not alone, there are perhaps hundreds), but the work flow is uneven. That said, management is great, the office is beautiful, and people are all very easy to get along with.

NOC Technician (Current Employee) –  Cary, NCOctober 11, 2015
Great place to work. Depending on the department; work life varies. Great pay and benefits, just not so many advances. Hardest part of job being the times of back-to-back calls that do not challenge my troubleshooting skills. So it is a little tedious.
Pros
Free lunches
