Great for helping people but very poor management structure
Staff management (Current Employee), MidlandsMay 30, 2014
Pros: great job satisfaction
Cons: upper management
Working here has been great when dealing with tenants/residents but unfortunately a culture of miss management has quickly developed leaving a lot of staff to feel un motivated and disillusioned. Like many organisations 'its not what you know, its who you know' thus leading to a lot of well experienced staff to leave for pastures new.

Dont get me wrong – more... things are not all doom and gloom and many operational staff (on the shop floor) would agree that working for this company is very rewarding when helping to improve the lives of the customers.

That being said, when you speak to upper and middle management types they would unanimously agree that nepotism, favouritism, bullying and corruption is still rife and that the companys values and behaviours are not adhered to by the majority of upper management, although there are still a brave few who are tirelessly and perhaps in vein trying to support and develope their team/s. – less

team leader (Current Employee), crumpsallMarch 29, 2014
Pros: 3 long days 4 days off
Cons: long shifts no bonus
Each day in would come in and check the dairy check the cd5 sign the keys over, have a handover with team leader from the shift before me, manage the day out if we have appointments any health proffessionals visiting and co-ordinate the shift, I would then administer the medication and deal with any concerns that may occur. I would also be answering – more... the phone and asissting the residents.I on occassions I would show protental residents/family/nok around the premisses this would go on through out the day, and attend any emergencys. – less

waitress/glass collecter (Current Employee), portstewartSeptember 8, 2013
Pros: get paid while on break
Cons: sometimes can be physically hard work with heavey lifting
my typical day at work would be like every other day make sure all costumers are seated and make sure they have everything they need, the hardest part in my job would be stocking and the cleaning up after the nightclub as its late hours in the morning, the job can be physically hard sometimes but the most enjoyable part of my job would be meeting new – more... people and getting to know others and my co-workers are great and really helpful we all work together as a team. – less

Anchor Don't Care Homes
Business Manager (Former Employee), YorkshireJune 11, 2013
Pros: can't think of one
Cons: too many to mention
Working for Anchor was the worst experience of my whole life. Worked as a business manager of a care home which had so many problems I wouldn't know where to start. Senior managers did not care about the person, all they were worried about was meeting targets, pressure, pressure, pressure. Long days, little support and many tears, its not worth it.

Nightmare company to work for.
Care Assistant (Current Employee), SheffieldApril 9, 2013
Pros: home time is the best thing about working for anchor.
Cons: working for anchor isn't a good thing at all. better companies out there
Low wages. Very long hour's, 14 hour long day's and only allowed two twenty minute breaks! No support from management or team leaders. Constantly receiving phone calls on your day's off asking you to go into work due to staff constantly not turning up or being off sick at the very last minute. A lot of back stabbing between staff. Never enough time – more... to give even basic care to the residents due to no having enough staff on duty. Team leader's leaders will only do their own tasks and very rarely help out when short staffed. Very poor induction and very little training given to new staff. Very large and quick turn over of staff. Management are oblivious to the constant problems of the daily running of the care home and sit in their own little world! – less
