ANDREWS, MCMEEL & PARKER
ANDREWS, MCMEEL & PARKER (Former Employee), Kansas City, MO – April 18, 2013
Pros: always being given new opportunities to learn.
Cons: none really.
This company is now Andrews & McMeel Universal and is a worldwide firm. My key function was editing anything and everything I was given as well as preparing press releases for the Associated Press. As in many publishing firms, all co-workers were dedicated and talented people. Being low person on the totem pole and new, the hardest part of the job with – more... proving myself, but it was also one of the best challenges. – less

Not my favorite job
CDL Route Driver (Former Employee), Dallas, Texas – October 10, 2012
Pros: decent pay for the job
Cons: management is a joke and wont stick up for you, extra work for same pay and no recognition
Job and compensation isn't too bad but management is a joke they won't stick up for you even after two years of loyal service. They also make you do extra work that isn't in any way your job and you recieve no extra pay or recognition

A place where everyone is Family!
Outside Sales Representative (Current Employee), Hamilton, CO – May 22, 2012
Pros: laptop, cell phone, vehicle, great co-workers, potential for high earnings, rtp area (close to home)
Cons: can get dirty in warehouses, work/leads can be stagnent at times
I have been with this company for some time and no matter what they always have your back! Everyone is available to help you with even the biggest questions/problems. Management wants to see you grow because it will allow the company to grow. As a new salesman I was unsure of how to approach sales for my company, but after some stumbles and help I figured – more... it out and sailed with flying colors!
As I said "a place where everyone is family!"... well this is literally true! The owner and three of his children started the company 25 years ago and all still work here. In this sense they all realize that things do come up in your life, and understand if you have something outside of work that needs to be taken care of. I am not scared of my boss like some people I know in other companies are. He is honest with me and trusts me. He guided me out of a few mistakes and showed me how I could have done something better. This has been one of the most wonderful places I could ever ask to work as a newly emerging person in the working world.
The hardest part of the job is finding the customers.... but it can also be enjoyable networking and meeting new people. The most enjoyable part of this job (for me at least) is designing layouts for warehouses and organizing how it will work. It is a puzzle that needs to be arranged, and if done properly will allow for maximum storage! I'm a bit of an organizer. And of course... I LOVE to negotiate and land the deal. That is one of the most satisfying feelings I've ever encountered! Great place to work! – less
