Personal Services Coordinator, Hemet, CA - October 28, 2013
Currently provide intense case management to at least 16 individuals, with mental health issues, homelessness, and drug addiction. A typical day at work would be assiting client's getting refills on their psychiatrict medication. assisting in getting them health insurance, resolving housing issues, assisting them to medical appointments or providing one on one encouragement. In my 5 years in this field, I have learned that everyone deserves a chance to better themselves and that no one is hopeless. Managing several lives takes a lot of compassion, understanding and patience, but more so with such a challenging population. I believe that the hardest part of the job is realizing that this population cannot rationalize or see things as one would expect, because they many do not have social skills, knowledge or concern over basic needs. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing the smile on client's faces and them telling you, that you have made a difference in their lives.
