Exceptional people, crumbling structure
Patient Transporter (Current Employee), Lancaster, CA – February 13, 2013
Pros: the health benefits are unparalleled
Cons: there are too few employees to do the job the best possible.
The employee health, human resources, and other essentials are all outsourced from the hospital to secondary and tertiary companies. If you ever get hurt or exposed to something that makes you terribly sick, you have to jump through so many hoops for each company just for the hospital to recognize that you were really hurt or sick. But once the hospital – more... recognizes the incident as detrimental to you, almost everything is paid for outside of required insurance co-pays.

It is very hard to advance yourself in the hospital. You can move sideways into comparable positions to what you already have, But you have to have the hand of God working for you to be able to move even one step forward regardless of your education or experience

Most equipment in the hospital is, at its newest, 20 years old. Everything is breaking down. However, the nurses, nurse techs, doctors and all support staff are phenomenal. You won't find a better group of people to work with or for. You will work with true exceptionalism, even while the hospital crumbles around you.

Te executive team is going through some changes, and that effect is being felt throughout the hospital, but there is faith that the organization will become stronger when finished. – less

OnlyTrauma Center in the Middle of East Egypt
Clinical Team (Current Employee), Lancaster, CA – January 1, 2013
Pros: close to home and compensation fair
Cons: poor managment
Although this hospital is convenient and the work can be hard at times, I have found the most difficult part is managing the personalities of co-wokers, because management and the culture of the hospital remains in the dark ages, this proves to be the hardest portion of this job.

Productive and enjoyable workplace.
Medical Transcriptionist (Former Employee), Lancaster, CA – August 27, 2012
Pros: provided up-to-date skills.
Cons: medical transcription department became outsourced. no health benefits.
This was a large acute hospital which provided hospital care to several surrounding communities. This gave me a broad variety of transcription and increased my skills tremendously. My coworkers became close friends and the work day was always enjoyable. We were introduced to a new EMR system which increased our productivity and also allowed us the opportunity – more... to become outsourced to work at home. – less

Pros: staff, empolyees, patients
Cons: dealing with unruly people
A typical day would be staff meeting briefing before assigned to post. Work and assist with staff and hospital guest, visitors, and patients. Management was supportive and helpful. The hardest thing about the job was dealing with others professional and the most enjoyable was assisting patients, staff, guest, and visitors of the hospital.

Nice workplace, with friendly staff.
Patient Transport Attendant (Current Employee), Lancaster, CA – June 15, 2012
Pros: great benefits, decent pay, and nice people
Cons: not the most conveniant hours, strict attendence policy, and lots of communication issues.
Very repetitive, we are constantly moving and walk several miles a day, involed a lot of lifting people in and out of bed. We work side by side with the nurses on a regular basis and I was able to learn a lot from them. Overall my Co-Workers were wonderful! Every job is going to have someone that you dont really care for, but I really didn't find too – more... many. The hardest part of my job is all the walking and lifting. We typically walk up to 10 miles a day and have to be able to assist in lifting patients of all sizes. The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting new people. Being in my department most of the staff know you and a lot of the patients get to know you by the end of their stay. – less

Very productive and fast paced place
Central Processing Department (Former Employee), Lancaster, CA – May 3, 2012
Pros: knowledge, and familiarity of the instruments and equipment
Cons: n/a
A typical day involved the cleaning and sterilization of instruments. Storing, package and stocking of the equipment. I learned most of the instrumentation needed for certain cases. Gave me a sense of how to use some of the instruments. The hardest part was remembering all the different trays, but the more you do it, the easier it had became.

Pros: learning new things daily
Cons: unhappy customers
A pleasurable and rewarding work force. Very challenging most days but that can also be the most memorable events. The most enjoyable part of my work day is interracting with staff residents family members' visitors and visitors, sharing with them a pleasant smile and information.

Antelope Valley Hospital is ok
Registered Nurse (Current Employee), Lancaster, CA – April 11, 2012
Pros: night shift gets free lunches.
I really enjoy the people I work with. They are hard workers and we all work well together. Ancillary staff included. The only draw back is management. It just seems like they are constantly trying to blame nurses for their problems and I feel like I am constantly looking over my shoulder. So do the others. Most feel like we almost work in a hostile – more... work environment. They want to be considered a Magnet Hospital and want all RN's to get their BSN but they have decreased the amount they are willing to give us per year for education. – less

Not a very positive facility to work for at this time due to many layoffs
Assistant Director (Former Employee), Lancaster, CA – April 10, 2012
Pros: not many at this time due to layoffs.
Cons: in the middle of layoffs due to "restructuring"
No Comment at this time as it would not be positive due to the low morale due to a large number of ongoing layoffs.
