Antelope Valley Union High School District prides itself in providing a safe and secure environment where a diverse student population can develop the skills necessary to perform effectively in a technological, information-based society. With a focus on school-to-careers, our District strives to determine what skills are necessary for our students to master to be effective as adults. To this end, the District aggressively pursues continuous improvement in the structure of curriculum to reflect not only high academic standards but also relevancy to real-world application. Our District believes that the best school-to-career preparation a student can receive is a rigorous and relevant academic program. To support our curriculum improvements, an extensive staff-development program has been implemented to provide training for staff members in the use of technology in the classroom as well as innovative classroom teaching strategies.
From special-population students to the most gifted students, our District has a program or academy that meets the personal and educational needs of all our students. Our District staff is proud of the fact that our students are given wonderful opportunities in preparation for their adult roles.
I am proud to call the Antelope Valley my home since 1957. I became an educator in 1981, of which twenty years have been served in this district. I am proud of the local public school system as a graduate of Antelope Valley High School and Antelope Valley College. I am also active in community youth programs that include Little League Baseball and softball, the American Youth Soccer Organization, Lancaster West Rotary member, Director Antelope Valley Board of Trade, American Cancer Society Leadership Board Member, and have served as a member on the School Site Council for a local elementary school.
I was married in 1984 and have three children attending public schools. As a parent, I share your concerns for the quality of education being provided, the safety of our students and the future for our children. It is the concern for the education of all students which drives my vision for the future of the Antelope Valley Union High School District.
First and foremost, we must keep learning and achievement for all students as the primary focus. This requires an open line of communication where the community, parents, students and staff are involved in the development of a common vision. The underlying foundation of this vision is that all students that pass through our doors are entitled to the best quality education that can be provided.
With this vision as a driving force, I would invite your involvement and encourage your commitment to the ever-changing process of educating our children. As a committed community, we can build and ensure the future of our children. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
