I was hired as a case manager for a work at home position in Iowa. I was informed that the first 6 months of employment would have to be completed in the office and then I would be transferred to my home. I left a wonderful job that I loved for the convenience of working at home due to being a busy single mother trying to provide and support my children. After working in the office 8am-5pm Monday - Friday for 9 months I requested to work from home due to relocation to be closer to a very ill family member. Not only was my request denied, management asked me to give a 30 day notice with my resignation. I later found out from HR that once notice is given, the employee is to be sent home with pay. No one in management knows what they are doing. There is no consistency. Management utilizes intimidation. Employees are told to let their peers "sink or swim".
I enjoyed the work and learned a lot about Medicaid and community resources. I had the opportunity to create relationships with members and provide them with support and education.
