Enrollment & Billing Representative I (Former Employee), Worthington, OH – March 12, 2013
Pros: strong support as well as good supplimental documentation.
Cons: jobs were terminated due to outsourcing our work to india.
Anthem provided a good training program to guide us in our duties. The manager was pro-active and stood beside us along the way. A typical day was to review outstanding urgent requests and respond in a timely manner. We also addressed Customer Worksheets for those with questions concerning their coverage. We also entered new insurance for members and – more... their families. – less

EXTERNAL PERFORMANCE AUDIT COORDINATOR (Former Employee), Ronaoke, Virginia – March 11, 2013
Pros: work at home program
Cons: high stress levels
Quality is the type of position where you must have experience in all aspects to be able to perform quality on processing ,customer service, enrollment and appeals. You must have good people skills, flexibility, you must be detailed and very analytical. There is a good team concept and over the years I worked with some great people. It is never boring.The – more... hardest part of working in quality, deadlines. You have to be able to have your error concurrence process run smoothly to submit reports on time. Many factors can hinder you from meeting deadlines such as slow response on issues, system problems or complicated cases that take additional hours of research. – less

enjoyed working independently with a flexible work schedule
Senior Claims Processor (Former Employee), Denver, CO – February 21, 2013
Pros: popcorn machines in specified areas and able to listen to books or music
Cons: highly stressful at times due to the industry
while reporting to work daily on a flex schedule I was able to electronically clock in anywhere from 5 am to 9 am to review schedule of daily assignments of types of claims to process. I enjoyed especially being able to listen to music on my headset as other co-associates did as well. while being employed at Anthem I was able to participate in various – more... classroom workshops to improve my knowledge of the industry and to work with co-workers who were friendly and supportive. the hardest part was simply that complex issues were definitely challenging at times but again with support from co-workers and management I was able to overcome any issues. – less

Great co-workers, like working from home, company pays large amount of insurance.
Nurse Medical Management I (Current Employee), Richmond, VA – February 10, 2013
Pros: working from home, insurance coverage.
Cons: difficulty getting leave time, items that count against your productivity reports.
Best parts of job are ability to work from home, hard working co-workers with excellent work ethics. Day shift recently changed to 8am - 5pm Monday through Friday with 1hr lunch break. But, never able to make evening plans due to not knowing when you will actually get off. Have had opportunity to cross train to do multiple aspects of job. Multiple not – more... well defined changes to company procedures have created stress and tension among all staff. – less

Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), North Haven, CT – February 1, 2013
Pros: area
Cons: no abiltiy to go anywhere and grow.
A typically day at work is the phones being busy. Constantly multitasking between customers, emails and cases being worked . I 've learned that in order to have balance regardless of whether it is work or home, Respect and appreciation for the things people do should be noticed and not just assumed since it's the little people that make a good company – more... run. Like a family good bad or indifferent it helps make the foundation run. – less

Senior Customer Care Representative (Former Employee), Richmond, VA – January 30, 2013
Pros: you had a job.
Cons: you were only a number that could be easily replaced.
I enjoyed my job with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Virginia. When to company merged with Wellpoint, the culture and working environment changed. Employees were loooked upon and treated as the company greates asset. This phrase was listed on cups, posters, and tee-shirts. Once Anthem merged with Wellpoint this phrase was no longer used and employees no – more... longer believed it. – less

State of CT / COBRA Enrollment and Billing Rep (Former Employee), North Haven, CT – December 3, 2012
Pros: spot bonuses for job well done
Cons: short breaks and lunch
A workplace that was friendly and challenged. Able to work independently with reward. Flexible work schedule. Learned all computer skills that I know today. Making a customer happy by explaining billing cycle or helping with payment of bills was a joy and a highlight of my day. Hearing difficulties with families and their hardships with children or – more... the elderly was a hard day. Management changed frequently but always a pleasant experience with equal level of respect. – less

Pros: free gym
Cons: healthcare benefits
Busy typical day at work. Billing and membership and dealing with internal and external customers. Co-workers friendly and team players.Hardest part of the job-helping other associates and explaining to them certain steps of the job. Enjoyable part of the job was going to work every day. Job security was there up until a year ago when they started out – more... sourceing jobs. – less
