Beautiful and fast paced retail
Visual Sales (Current Employee), Scottsdale, AZ – May 20, 2013
In visual sales you can go from painting, using power tools, dying fabric, to helping a customer find a flattering dress. The most enjoyable part of the job is having fun with co workers and making the customers happy. I have learned so much about making the visual displays and the many aspects of retail.

Anthropologie creates an unimagined experience for the customer. Everything from the visual merchandising, to the scented candles, to the music, and the friendly staff - it is all geared to delight the customer.

Productive and fun workplace
Senior Sales Associate (Current Employee), Tampa, FL – April 16, 2013
The main goal is to provide our customers an "unimagined experience", so my typical day is to ensure that the store looks and is up to standards with the company so we can have a successful day and to be caught up with the tasks at hand. The environment of the store is structured but happy, management always having your back, praising and helping each – more... and every person when possible. The hardest part of the job is not making any mistakes, it's hard when the store is usually busy and not to miss anything when you are doing whatever task you are currently doing. – less

Creative Company in Tough Times
Supervisor/Manager (Current Employee), Beverly Hills, CA – April 5, 2013
Pros: creative environment, wonderful coworkers, great product
Cons: poor management, hour cuts, payroll issues, no room for growth
My main qualm with working for this company is the lacking sales drive. They are not doing well financially, thus we have a shortage in payroll to allot, so we are all unfortunately over-worked and under-staffed. I am primarily a closer, so I arrive to work and immediately begin reading our current MPOS sales projected in relation to our goals for the – more... day and adjust accordingly based on what's attainable. I then delegate closing tasks and responsibilities to my sales associates. Each night upon closing I am responsible for counting the registers and safes, writing payroll updates, and calculating the month-to-date, week-to-date, and quarter-to-date sales ledger which is then sent off to our regional and district managers. The hardest part of my job is working with the limited amount of payroll we have to work with. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with the sales staff and assisting in their growth and knowledge of the company. That is the greatest joy to my work, watching each member of the team flourish and gain experience in the retail industry. – less

Working at Anthropoligie is nice but it's a very slow-moving environment with little room to move up.

Artsy and Creative Workfeild
Visual Merchandising Internship (Former Employee), Mount Lebanon, PA – February 22, 2013
Pros: the people, being in a creative enviornment, and hand crafting all displays.
I loved coming to work everyday there. The management team in Mt. Lebanon PA is remarkable. They always have the store running like a well oiled machine. My team members were very inspiring to work with and I feel like I felt right into the company's culture.
Even thogh I wasn't a paid intern, It was wonderful experience that I will take with me for – more... my future in the fashion industry. – less

Need to drink the kool-aid
Home Department Manager (Current Employee), washington, dc – February 20, 2013
Anthropolgie is a great learning environment, but is racial biased and will only promote you if say the things that they want to hear from you. Management is super passive aggressive, and will only promote you unless you "fit the mold" regardless of your great work ethic.

Creatively Inspiring, TERRIBLE management
Merchandiser (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FL – February 6, 2013
Was able to be creative and build on my knowledge base.

Management continually belittled until I quit. It was like high school with all the gossip and who favored who.

Creative workplace with good benefits and pay.
Operations/Selling Manager (Former Employee), Simi Valley, CA – February 4, 2013
Pros: co-worker relationships, flexible scheduling and a friendly work environment
Cons: poor planning and management from corporate levels
A typical work day would include payroll management, register sales, cleaning/maintaining store's appearance, stocking of inventory, visual support, sales driven customer service and overall management of sales floor.

Learned management of payroll and associates from sales vs. availibility in hours. Opening and closing of store operations along with – more... transfers, markdowns and inventory.

Managed a sales staff of 15+ including training of daily store functions such as registers, fitting rooms, processing of merchandise and customer communication.

Management structure including a store and visual manager, under them is the selling/operations manager, a supervisor, a manager in training (M.I.T) and then various levels of sales associates.

Most challenging part of the job was driving the store's sales in an area that didn't receive much foot traffic.

Most enjoyable part of the job was meeting the store's sales goals which would reflect in a higher morale for the sales team, creating a high level of energy and support for our customer. – less

Really great retail job
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Rancho Cucamonga, CA – February 1, 2013
Pros: discount
Cons: not many hours, very high standards
You can't expect to last long in this company; the only great thing about the job is the amazing discount. but, you may meet some great customers, and nice coworkers.

great place, but difficult management
Product/Design/Tech (Former Employee), Philadelphia, PA – January 20, 2013
Pros: creative, fun atmosphere, travel opportunity, beautiful office
Cons: finger-pointing managers, unorganized, lack of growth within the organization
Wonderful opportunities to travel, and a collaborative work environment. There are a lot of creative people working in all departments. However the upper management is consistently changing, and with each change, many of the unwritten rules change. This contributes to an overall lack of organization.

With the recent economic downturn the company reduces – more... product quality and managers point fingers at each other making reactionary decisions without balanced judgement or concern for morale. Too much time spent on how something went wrong, rather than how to fix it. – less

Really big workload but great products!
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Dallas, TX – January 5, 2013
Pros: product, discount, fellow associates
Cons: workload, mgmt. team
The workload at Anthro is HUGE! All the sizing and folding and tryin to get the go backs done and clean up the sale room is exhausting. The mgmt was severely lacking except the Store Manager was really good and knew her stuff. Some of the assistants were snotty and rude. One in particular was so impressed with herself that i think she thought she was – more... better than the Store Manager. I was a pretty loyal customer but I'd never work there again. I hated getting out at 1 in the morning! – less
