great people horrible leadership
Management Staff (Former Employee), Glen BurnieApril 15, 2013
Cons: rude leadership, little upward mobility
If you have other options for employment I would consider those options before working at the APWU Health Plan. While the staff who work there are courteous and knowledgable the leadership is out of touch, one minded, rude but more importantly they will treat you like a dog and will not be appreciative of the work you put in and when there is no need for you they will make an excuse and fire you. HR is no help either if there is an issue they will say they can do something but they won't. This is the typical old boys club. The culture of the work environment is ruthless, backstabbing and two faced. This is all a representation of the leadership of this organization. It is also affiliated with the largest postal union in the country and job security may be an issue. If the Union goes down so will the health plan. After several years working there I am happy to have moved on and have come to learn what a good workplace is when compared to this one.
