Objectives

The primary objectives of this position are:

  • To ensure that plant assets are protected and safeguarded;
  • That plant objectives and strategies are effectively controlled through the financial management reporting systems;
  • Provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning, budgeting, and financial oversight.

The Plant Controller is responsible for coordinating and/or preparing, accurate monthly Plant Cost Reports, Forecasts, Budgets and other Plant Financial Information.

Nature & Scope

The incumbent must ensure that the financial reporting for the plant is consistent with generally accepted accounting principles and with Company accounting and administration policies; that the financial impact of decisions is consistent with the strategies developed to achieve both plant operating and financial objectives; that proper internal controls are in place.

Primary Responsibilities

Financial:
Analysis and reporting of daily production, purchase price variances, raw material yields, filling yields, production put-away losses, expense budget variances, and related information

Develop cost estimates for products

Manages cost-related reserves, performs reconciliations, and participates in special projects as appropriate.

Oversight of plant inventories

Ensure that financial reporting is consistent with current GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) and with Argos Cement Accounting and Administration Policies & Procedures. Ensure that all transactions are done according to legal and company requirements. Controller will certify the Plant’s financial records in coordination with the plant manager.

Review the internal controls for the plant and with the regional finance team to deem internal controls are sufficient to mitigate the risks to company assets.

Complete in a timely, accurate manner monthly and annual reporting of costs and performance data as required. Provide necessary reporting to facilitate management of plant operations.

Coordinate and review monthly variance analysis for plant results. Ensure quality of variance analysis and descriptions (demonstrating knowledge of the business, and understanding of operations).

Maintain all financial and administrative records for the plant, as per corporation guidelines.

Review and/or complete reconciliations of plant asset and liability accounts and audit transactions to ensure all balances are accurately stated in the Corporation’s balance sheet.

Administrate, in a timely manner, the development of plant budgets, cost forecasts and financial portion of business/technical plans.

Review and analyze future capital expenditures, EVA calculations and assumptions using corporation spending justification guidelines. Provide general oversight over the capital process, including ensuring that significant variances to budget are explained appropriately by project managers.

Manage the relationship with internal, external auditors and controlling bodies and implement corrective actions as required. Ensure coordination with plant personnel.

Complete the external reporting requirements for the Plant as required

Qualifications

Mandatory skills:
B.S. Degree in accounting or finance.
Five to seven years’ experience in accounting with emphasis in cost/manufacturing.
Experience with SAP ERP system particularly the CO, FI, PP and MM modules
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter with initiative
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong inter-personal skills
